Huh!? I must be living in a parallel universe...

Reserved 3 rooms here on August 7, 2004. Although we arrived at 1:30 we had to wait until almost 4pm for all the rooms to be ready. During this time I decided that I had had enough and went looking for another hotel- Le Grimaldi, just down the street. Roosevelt refused to let me out of my commitment even though they were very late in delivering the rooms. Unfortunately, the desk clerk was extremely rude (in that flippant French way). In the end they offered a 10% discount; that's when things really fell apart.
All rooms were hot, unlike the cool lobby.(You have to insert the room key in a special device to keep the air running.) The beds all sagged in the middle. The rooms all had a musty smell. One television was held together with duct tape and one of the room doors would NOT lock. Ultimately this avalanche of problems finally led them to release us from the reservation. I booked this hotel based on comments here - but did not have the same experience. Le Grimaldi felt sorry for us and gave us rooms at the Roosevelt's price!
A good basic grade hotel

I stayed here for seven nights (27/9/04 - 4/10/04). On arrival, I thought the hotel looked a bit dingy from the outside as it only has a small lobby on a busy street. However the lobby was clean, bright and pleasant and the staff very friendly. We booked a single and a twin room. The twin was the nicest of the two, having been recently redecorated. The single was quite dreary and dark but was clean and contained all usual facilities: TV, tea/coffee making facilities, phone, good shower, hairdryer, etc. We had to pay 2 euro per day to use the safe in the room. The breakfast was quite good consisting of bread, cereal, croissants, pastries, yoghurt and facilities to boil your own eggs. We thought at 8 Euro we could probably find better value elsewhere (as is usually the case with hotel breakfasts) but we couldn't. Location was excellent - one block from a little square that came alive at night with performers, artists, etc and lots of restaurants. The hotel was only a short walk from shops and Nice etoile shopping centre. The sea was only a gentle 10min walk away and the train station about 20min. All in all, I thought this was a good basic standard hotel (it is a three star after all) and worth considering for a stay especially if you get a good deal. It is not luxurious, so if you want to spend alot of time in your hotel during your stay, try a four star!
Very Good value for the money

We stayed here from Oct 5 to Oct 11. The room. a double, was small but with a new large bathroom and was very clean. Furnishings were very nice. The bed seemed new and was very firm. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was soundproof and very quiet which made it very easy to sleep even though the hotel is located on a busy street. The room was well maintained and cleaned every day. The location is very good. Fifteen minute walk to the train station, ten minute to the Promenade and the bus to the airport. Very close to cafes and night activities. The buffet breakfast was served at 6:30 and for 8 Euros was a good buy. It included cereal, yougurt, a choice of cheeses, fruit, pastries, and the choice to make your own eggs. I would strongly recommend staying here.

We stayed in a double room at the Comfort Roosevelt from 7th October until the 10th October. We booked this through Expedia. We got there very early and the checking in staff were extremely helpful. They locked our luggage away and we went sight-seeing around Nice. On checking in the staff could not have been more helpful and our room was absolutely spotless, the furniture looked new and I was very suprised at the high standard of the hotel. We had breakfast the first day, we arrived late but the staff were extremely accommodating and let us stay.
I could not recommend this hotel enough. It is in a very good central location, extremely friendly and I thought the accommodation was above the standard I was expecting for the price we paid. I would have no hesitation in recommending this to the budget conscious traveller.

Stayed from 10th to 15th October 2004
Most of the rooms have been renovated, so you would be unlucky to get one which hasn't been. We were unlucky but we were moved after 2 nights. However had we not been with friends who had a renovated room we would not have been aware that there are better rooms.
Only 5 rooms had baths, the rest had showers. However the showers could do with being re-grouted!
The rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and we appreciated the tea/coffee facilities in the room.
A good central location, with a wonderful pattisserie 3 minutes away. Good buffet breakfast to set you up for the day. Helpful staff speaking good English.

We stayed at the Comfort Hotel (Roosevelt) from 14th- 18th October 2004, it was a lovely hotel and we got a great rate for a double room for 4 nights. Breakfast was included and there was a wide choice including English style as well as continental, available until 10.30am. Staff were very friendly and could advise us on restaurants, tourist attractions etc. Location was perfect; 10/15 mins walk into the centre/old town. The rooms were very clean and we rate the hotel very highly.

Good location, very helpful desk staff, great buffet breakfast.
Our room (a double on the first floor) was a bit on the small side but very clean and comfortable.
Overall, it is a good value hotel.
