 | Best Western Premier Hotel West End: Make Sure of Your Reservation !!
| |
 |
|
 |
When we arrived at the West End earlier this week, we were told that our reservation had been cancelled !! The management were unable to explain why or by whom, and after much argument they admitted that we had paid for a room but that they were full. So they paid for a taxi and sent us to the Hotel Aston, where we were given a very poor room. The air conditioning wasn't working and the cupboards were broken and dirty. We complained and were given a smaller room but at least it was cool (in temperature !) We had booked via Expedia so we contacted them, and they were very good. They rang the West End and after having been initially fobbed off, they eventually managed to extract a promise that everything would be done in the hotel's power to accommodate us. However, by the next evening nothing had been done, so we rang the West End and after a great deal of argument they found us a room in the Beau Rivage, which is an excellent hotel where we have stayed before. We are convinced that the West End had overbooked and did not have the decency to admit this. Instead they pushed us off to the Aston which, although not a bad hotel, is not up to the standard we had paid for. My partner is recovering from illness and we had reserved a "superior room with a balcony and sea-view" so that we could both relax and enjoy a few days in the sun. Instead we had a very stressful first day, and a holiday interrupted by having to change rooms and hotels. We were only in Nice for three nights, the first of which was ruined. Fortunately the Beau Rivage made us very comfortable and we were happy enough there, although we did not have the balcony and sea-view for which we had paid. So the lesson is, ensure that, if you are going to stay at the West End, you email then and get them to confirm your booking. As you might imagine we are not happy with the management, although we are sure it's a very nice hotel, and have no intention of ever staying there !! An old fashioned building, no fancy de luxe stuff, very central. Nice breakfast restaurant. Near the famous Negresco. Near the Massena Museum and park. Theme: HotelComparison: about average

 | Best Western Premier Hotel West End: A view to die for!

Have stayed there twice, once in 2001 and once June 2004. Had a 5 star experience and a 1 star experience in the same hotel! Some rooms are renovated, lovely, updated baths, while others (same costs) are small, cramped, badly in need of new carpeting, etc. But the location is great, the beach is right there, breakfast is devine, and the people are friendly.
Both times we had rooms with balcony's that overlooked the sea. This year they had a firework display (we were a little worried when the first boom went off:) that we watched from our balcony Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageDirections: On the beach. This is a Best Western hotel, but not cookie cutter...very old Nice

Hotel West-End Nice by Sakura_Kobe Hotel West-End Nice is located on the famous Promenade des Anglais that is a long wide road along the blue Mediterranean. It is next to the most famous hotel Negresco. Hotel West-End Nice is run by one of large American hotel chains. All the staff were very friendly. Some of the rooms were under renovation. If you stay this hotel, I would recommend you a renovated room with breakfast.
My favorite place in the hotel was the grand floor restaurant. It was not large but beautiful with Art Deco interior. There were lovely wooden chairs and tables covered with white cloth. The small flower arrangement on the table reminded me that it was Christmas season. They offered some bread, eggs, cheese, hum and some drink in buffet style. It was not large selection but tasted good. Every morning we looked at peoples jogging or walking with their dogs on the Promenade. All seemed to enjoy the healthy and pleasant life in French Riviera. Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averagePhone: Tel:33(0)4.92.14.44.00
