Trying to predict the weather can be difficult because of local on the day variations.
This information should be used as a guide only.
Here is the average weather for Nice for this time of year.
Enjoy your holiday.

August.
High 80f / 27c
Low 67f / 19c
Rain 1.23in / 31.3mm
Sun % 43

That is the weather sorted out. Not much needed in the way of warm clothes in the evening.

Your kids will have adjusted the second their feet touch the tarmac at the airport.

Most of the big car hire companies will allow a drop off in another European Country.

Now, all we have to do is to get YOU to relax and chill before you get there. Lol

Good advice. Some days we are in the low 30 degrees Centigrade in August, and night without aircon can be a problem!

As for not looking like tourists - spot on the money. Avoid sportswear, trainers, baseball hats (especially worn backwards) and rucksacks. Then you may even find French people coming up to you to ask directions. Cool.

Everyone in Nice in August is a tourist. You may as well look like the rest of them. LOL

Shorts are fine on the beach but not into town. Take a sweater but I'll be you don't need it and be sure you have a hotel with air conditioning.

Have a great trip and don't worry about clothes. You will see a bit of everything and much of it will be on French tourists visiting Nice. The rest will be on Italian and American tourists visiting Nice. You will have a grand time! It's a wonderful place.

BTW, tell your teens to pack light and do some clothes shopping in Nice. That will be a fun souvenir and a real conversation piece back at school.

More interesting, I like to watch the car numberplates, as the 06's become swamped by those ending in 75. Come summer, Paris is on the move.

Yes, don't worry too much about the clothes, just remember that August is terribly hot but we often get some terribly heavy rains for a day or two that can come by surprise. So be prepared.
But honestly, don't worry. It's so hot everybody's wearing short outfits.

Avoid wearing "sports wear" like the plague, the French have more sense than to spend £100 on a pair of trainers so they will think you are a Yank or a Brit straight off.

If you want to pass, avoid designer labels unless they are 100% genuine and even then wear them only in the right surroundings.

My advice take little with you and buy it there you will soon see what is current chic! But be aware unless you like markets it will not come cheap.

If I wear jeans, plain linen shirt and battered deck shoes people speak to me in French, IF I wear tailored shorts, fashionable shirt and flip flops they speak to me in English!

Travel Tips for Nice

The Chateau

by Lilasel

"Le Chateau" isn't a chateau -- the castle on top of this high rock hill overlooking Nice old town and the port has been gone since 1706, but it's a great place to visit. There are cool walks in the shade of the trees, great views out over Nice and the Mediterranean, a large grassy park, playground, Roman ruins and a waterfall.

It's not polite to stare..

by Herkbert

Topless sunbathing is permitted on the beaches of the Cote d'Azur. You'll see a mix of women with their tops on or off as you enjoy the beaches. The lesson to be learned is not to stare like a schoolboy. Enjoy the sun and let others enjoy it too.

OGC Nice

by bonio

A ten miute walk out of the centre to the Football stadium. We saw a game against Toulouse, a 1-0 home win. OGC? that's Olmpic Gymnastic Club!
Noisy and entertaining crowd singing mostly Italian songs, Forza Nizza!

In 1977 I spent three weeks in Aix-en-Provence studying the French language. Aix was founded during the 3rd century BC. Cours Mirabeau in the center is a beautiful tree-lined avenue with wonderful terrace cafés.

Interesting perfume prices

by Elainehead about Parfumerie Rose de France

This perfume shop sells most perfume brands 20% off. If you have doubts, go to Sephora to compare prices. You may not find this place right away, because there's a huge "Alain Soriano" written all over, so it may be misleading...

I got my Miss Dior Chérie (L'Eau de Toilette) there for under 50€.

They also have a sister shop selling beauty products (lipsticks, creams, etc) which is a few doors away. They also sell with 20% off normal prices. Perfume 20% off than Sephora prices.
