Nice Tip
The Jardin Anglais. It was the first thing I sought out the second time I was there this past April. Here's a picture of the fountains at night. I can't believe I was lucky enough to have this come out.

Hi!
I'm travelling to Nice, Monaco and the nearby areas on 20th May - 24th May and would like to check if any of you have any special recommendations to make with regard to any events, festivals or special happenings going on in those areas in that timeperiod.
If not, than any tips on fun stuff, don't miss this ... and to die for restaurants and nightclubs are appreciated :)
Chris
The Monaco Grand Prix's on towards the end of your stay! Have been and it's very cool!
Type NiceLife into your VT Search Window and do a Member Search. He has fantastic Travel Pages on Nice. . . . or type Nice into your Search Window and do the default Destination Search. I'm pretty sure his name will come up as the 1st VT member on Nice. Just click on his Travel Pages.
He has all kinds of info and amazing things to do in the area.
Enjoy your trip. Gorgeous area and a beautiful time to visit.
From Nice we did a day trip along the Chemins de Fer du Provence (narrow gauge train) and visited the town of Entrevaux it was soooooo spectacular and totally different to the razzmataz of Nice and Monte Carlo. Check out my Entrevaux page for details and Nice page for the train.

If you plan on going in the sea, if I were you I'd bring a cheap pair of rubber sandals that you can wear on the pebbles as you go down to the water. I personally pack very light when going to Nice. The Shopping is so good here, that most afternoons I spend in and out of the stores, oftentimes purchasing the cute little outfit I plan to wear out that same evening. This way when you go to pack for your return, you don't have to worry about making room for too much clothes.
The full name of this church is Eglise du Gesu Saint-Jacques le Majeur (= the Great) and it's facade surprises you when walking through the narrow streets of the old town of Nice. this is a Jezuiet church, a religious group that appeared during the contra-reformation and was inspirated by creating a dazzling beauty that would show the importance and power of the Roman Catholic church. The simple 17th century baroque style outside does not match the indeed spectacular overwhelming beauty inside. Gold, silver, albaster, marble and a huge collection of wall and ceiling ffresco's paintings, will make you dizzy from finding out where to look first.
Foodies rejoice! Premium quality olive oil is one of the 'must buys' on your shopping list because there's some unparalleled, absolutely to-die-for olive oil in the Provence/Côte d'Azur region. Fancy yourself a connoisseur? A foolproof expert? An unparalleled authority on the art of olive? Whatever your test, our method is infallible: TASTE IT.
The best place for you to sample oils is at an open market. Try the Cours Saleya Open market in Old Nice or one of the several others in town. You can also buy outstanding olive oil in a supermarket (but don't sample it in-store!), just look for the premium oils. Prices compared to what you pay back home, are hard to beat.
While we're on the subject of oil, grab some grapeseed oil while you're here. It's also superior and costs much less than outside of Europe.
* olive oil (l'huile d'olive), grapeseed oil (l'huile de pepins de raisin) reasonable prices
