I didnt actually stayed there. But I was told it is the most expensive hotel in Nice. From the outside it looks great.
Unique Quality: This privately owned Belle Epoque Palace was built in 1913. It's got richly furnished salons with pieces of contemporary art.
There's a multi-lingual staff, restaurant in hotel, health club, laundry/dry cleaning service, car rental...
Each room's got air conditioning, fridge, phone, TV, balcony or terrace...
The Negresco hotel is definately not just a hotel. With it's history and it's significant presence along the Bouevard de Anges, it might as well be called a tourist attraction. the hotel was built in 1913 and at first was a privately owned Belle Epoque palace. Soon after it became a hotel and is now officially a historic monument. With the boulevard and beach just outside the frontdoor, the location is perfect. As well are the views over the bay and the Mediterranean Sea. With it's exclusive rooms one can expect that prices here are outrageously high.
We dropped in Negresco Hotel to take some tea. Negresco is the most famous hotel in Nice and stands next to the hotel we were staying. But I was very disappointed at its taste of interior. The gorgeous chandelier like a picture could not fit such a vulgar place. The hotel is a playground for the rich who are tired of luxury. It's the best way that you should only appreciate the hotel outside. The second day of the trip was over when the night fell deeply.
Located on Nice's famous Promenade des Anglais, Le Negresco is known as one of the most luxurious deluxe hotels in Nice. Le Negresco, decorated with elegance and art, provides fine dining at The Chantecler and has it's own private beach for guests.
The world famous, luxurious hotel built in 1912 by Henri Negresco, who went bankrupt 8 years later. (?)
The hotel is renovated and shows amazing splendour of belle epoque. And of course it's very, very expensive.
No, I didn't stay here... :-( not yet, I mean
I didn't stay here but it looked a lovely old building. Hotel Negresco one of the older and grander hotels of the Promenade des Anglais which was built at the turn of the century.
Unique Quality: In most people's eyes, the grandest, with its Empire and Napoléon decor, is the Negresco The building, which is now a national monument, was built in 1912 by Henri Négresco, a Hungarian immigrant. Before he started the hotel, Henri was director of the city casino's restaurant - we're talking guests who were the richest people in the world, the Rockefellers and the Singers. He wanted his hotel to be a hauts lieux as well, and had it designed to attract the very top of the upper crust. As bad luck would have it, World War I reared its ugly head, and the hotel became a hospital. Négresco died shortly after the war, a ruined man.
hotel negresco,in winter, from the beach, you can see the snowy mountain(60 kms to the nearest ski resort)
If you can afford it (and we can't!!), you must stay at the NEGRESCO HOTEL, the grandest hotel here in NICE. Well, if you are like us and can't quite afford the exhorbitant hotel bill, you can always come in here to check out the hotel boutiques or have a drink at the grand lounge and then check out its fancy club. Coming in to this hotel is like encountering a major religious experience! Champagne wishes and caviar dreams indeed.

I am taking my husband to Nice for Valentine's Day 'O5 and I would like to take him for a romantic meal in the evening. As we are spending a few days in Nice I would welcome suggestions about what to do and see. I want this to be a totally relaxing and enjoyable break.
We will be staying in the Hotel Nice Rivoli - any info on this hotel? Is it central, etc.
All suggestiong welcome!
Hotel Nice Rivoli - very central in Rue Pastorelli, just off the Av Jean medecin, five minutes walk from everything.
Now you want something romantic in the evening.
There is unlimited choice in Nice and the Cotes d'Azur, but if you want something really "special" (=money!) in Nice consider Chantecleur in the Hotel Negresco, or if you can travel, La Reserve in Beaulieu, or La Coloumbe d'Or St Paul de Vence.
Consult AllaboutNice on VT.
Cheers
Andrew
