Early morning buses from Gare Routiere to Nice Airport?

by tortoise23

Does anyone know whether there is an early morning bus starting at 6.30am or will we need to get a taxi? If it's the taxi can you recommend a reasonably priced one (if there is such a thing?)

The airport website has a useful bus search facility:

If you click on 'Horaires complets Aller/Retour (PDF) ' for the bus which suits (98?) you will get the timetable. Looks as if you will be in luck....buses seem to start around 6am.

As Leics says you have a bus in time.

As for "reasonably priced taxis", I confess I had to supress a chuckle. Nice to airport is a controlled fare and the word reasonable and taxifare don't appear together in the same sentence here.

Taxis are licensed and ply from stands and do not respond to being hailed from the street. If everything goes pear-shaped and you can usually find some waiting outside the big hotels, like Jean Jaures opp Le Meridien.Its around thirty euro.

Hi I've just returned to Birmingham from Nice yesterday. You'll have no problem getting a bus from the city station to the airport at 6.30am. They run approximately every 20 minutes from 6am and costs 4euros. You must buy your ticket at the ticket office before getting on the bus.

Oh yes, it's also 1 Euro for any luggage other than hand baggage.

"You must buy your ticket at the ticket office" - whilst you can do that its not necessary - to save time, just pay the driver on boarding. Its what most people do.

OK Andrew I bow to your greater knowledge about buying tickets, We were told at the airport that we must buy tickets before boarding, I guess that that's to avoid a big queue of people paying as they board the bus. True we did on other buses in the area just paid the driver.

I rode the very first bus, I think it was 5.30

The driver provided the tickets as gladly as he could at that time in the morning.
Note: though early, it was really crowded

Travel Tips for Nice

Fountaine du Soleil

by SeaBreezeUSA

The center of Nice is from the big fountain, Fountaine du Soleil, across the Place Massena, ringed by bright pastel buildings, and up the Avenue Jean Médecin. Continuing beneath the railway overpass beside the train station, Ave Jean Médecin becomes Ave Malaussena. The Rue de France pedestrian shopping street runs from the end of the Place Massena, roughly parallel to the seaside. This area is full of shops, including some exclusive clothing boutiques, and restaurants and cafés with outdoor terraces - a great place to sit and watch the world go by, while you eat or drink.

If you have an address and you are curious about what it really looks like, try this site:

Ville = city
Rue = street name

Some people might be surprised that those beautiful hotel faýades photos on the net are a bit older than reality after checking the site above.

Star Academy-winner Nolwen Leroy's Histoire Naturelle . Another star academy winner Gregory Lemarchal - sadly died so young, but shared with us the voice of an angel.

The musical Roi de Soleil" - brilliant songs to last a lifetime, discover Christophe Mae and Emanuelle Moire with their own albums. Christophe Willem, geek-style with a voice like few others.

The Antilles-scene offers the sinuous voice and songs of Perle Lama and the outstanding find Soha rarely off my cd player

The fearless hiphop satire of Michael Youn's Fatal Bazooka hits number one with "Parle a ma main" feat Yelle. Hilarious

Revival: the towering giant of French pop Michael Polnareff with Goodbye Marylou, a song that hits falsetto notes you never knew existed. What a man.

Now I could make out both smart hotels, and the numerous health-resort visitors idly walking on English quay. It was pleasant to feel myself as an element of this carefree world in one of the most luxurious world resorts.

Once the Sochi Riviera was the top of our dreams, and now its original - the French Riviera has appeared within reach. It was possible to be convinced of it on Russian dialect which was heard from everywhere. Well, not only I decided to visit Nice that year.

Finding a perfume

by Muscovite

It would help if you could copy and post everything that was written on the bottle.
Then you will know that it is maybe made – or was, they tend to keep up with the progress – in one of the three perfume factories, Molinar, Fragonar or Gallimar. They have Internet sites and, I think, you can order a delivery service. In all probability it will be Molinar, they do have their own outlet next to the Promenade.

Chances are, however, your friend bought her perfume in one of the souvenir shops in the Old City, they are not bad at all and much cheaper. Then, indeed, you can count only on someone living in Nice to find it. From 10 euro in a souvenir shop to 50 - 100 at the factory with a name
