Great value at the Regence Hotel
by TripAdvisor Member keentoseetuscany
We have just returned from a weekend in Nice and stayed in the Regence Hotel after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed! The rooms are small, but very clean and the friendliness of the staff was exceptional. We would have no hesitation in returning to this hotel.
Pleasure to Stay

Just arrived back from 5 nights staying at the Hotel Regence in Nice.
The location in the centre of Nice means that every thing is close by so no need for a car. The Bus from the Airportwas an exceptional way to get to the Hotel and there are plenty of buses and trains for travel to any destination once you are there. The Hotel although only 2 star was clean, fresh and nice and bright. The rooms and the staff were excellent. Will definetly return to this Hotel in the future again and again.
all good at the regence

Stayed here for four nights. Fifth time in Nice and this was the best and cheapest hotel I have stayed in! Centrally located, in great condition, large room, good decor, breakfast good, staff helpful - will be booking The Regence again for my next trip.
Great place to stay

Stayed here 4 nights this October on reccomendation of these pages. Not disapointed. Great location close to beach/Prom, Market and old town, 10 minute walk to station and 2 minute walk for Airport bus. Very clean if basic room, all contents appear very new. Nice large En-suite shower room with great power shower. Good basic continental breakfast. Will return very soon!!
Decent cheap hotel
by TripAdvisor Member khw225
This hotel is in a pedestrian zone, so there are lots of restaurant and shops. Unfortunately, that makes it difficult to get to by car. Parking is a real headache in this area. Lots of one-ways and pedestrian zones. And watch out – not all parking garages are open 24 hrs.
The room itself was very typical. Nothing special but also nothing wrong. Average size, cheap furniture, small but clean bathroom. Zero amenities. Some noise from people in the hallway but nothing from the street.
The young man on duty in the evenings was very friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was also totally uninspiring, but there are so many cafés around, you can get anything you want just outside the hotel.
Overall, this was a reasonable place for a few nights at a good rate, but nothing to write home about.
What splendid value

Just returned after 5 nights in Nice.17th to 22nd Nov.
This Hotel is basic but spotlessly clean and beautifully presented with helpful and friendly staff. The location is simply wonderful surrounded by Shops and restaurants to cater for all tastes.A 3minute walk will take you to the Promenade des Anglais, a 12 minute walk to the Old Town and a 15 minute walk to the Gare Routiere[bus station]from where you can travel cheaply to wonderfully scenic places East or West along the coast. It is also within walking distance of the major museums with the exception of Matisse at Cimiez.Palais Lascaris in the Old Town is free and a wonderful place to drop into.Look out for the painting by Ottavio Vanini of Adam and Eve being expelled from The Garden of Eden.
The only shortcoming of the Hotel is that some of the rooms and shower cubicles are small. If you want a larger room with a bath the sister Hotel Massinet just around the corner 2 minutes away might suit you better. At present it is closed for renovation.Would I recommend the Regence?Subject to the above limitations most certainly. It is such good value for money in what is not a cheap city.
Great Hotel

This was a perfect hotel for me. Very clean, reasonably priced (€80 per night for 3 people) and situated on a pedestrian street (near the sea) with loads of cafes and shops. There was a public car park 50 metres away for the hire car which cost €25 a day. I will certainly stay here again.
Basic hotel but fantastic location
by A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is in a fantastic location, right in the middle of the action, but inside it's so quiet you would never know it.
The hotel is what you would expect from a 2*. It is brand new so is clean but also very basic and the rooms are quite small. It has a TV and en-suite bathroom in rooms. Staff are friendly & helpful. Breakfast is extremely basic - a bun, a croissant, jams & a drink.
We paid £55 per night which was okay but wouldn't be worth it if you paid much more.

Regence Hotel

I shall be spending a couple of nights in Nice in February as part of a rather speedy round the world trip. Am thinking of booking the Regence, and am hoping that someone who has stayed there fairly recently could give me their opinion of the hotel. many thanks
Hotel Near Car Rental
by newbeeNice
I will be arriving in Nice at the end of June and plan on renting a car to visit Western Provence, Avignon, Arles, etc., for 4-5 days. I'll be returning back to Nice to round out the trip for another 6 nights.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a moderately priced hotel for one night near a car rental office? One address that I have for a rental place is 3 Avenue Gustave V. But I'm open to other places. One other car rental place that allaboutnice referenced is by the Hotel Suisse close to the port but I can't seem to find that address.
So far I'm looking at the Hotel Regence and the Hotel Fontaine which look to be pretty close to Gusave V. There's a Comfort Hotel near the port but I'm not sure if that's close to a rental car office or not.
Thanks for your help.

how bout an airport hotel like we have in the US. that would be near car rental places and convenient for flying in and out. i am going to nice in sept. since we have an overnight flight we will rent a car at the airport and drive to vence, about 10 miles, for one night and get some sleep. the next day we will drive to the avignon area

jackd, thanks for the suggestion but I'll be arriving around 11am and my husband prefers to recover before attempting to drive so we thought we'd spend the day/night in Nice. I didn't think about staying in a town like Vence but that's an idea as well since I haven't been there before. Do you know what hotel you'll be staying at yet?

Hi
You'll find offices for most of the major car hire firms located to the left hand side (when facing) of Nice Ville train station on Ave Thiers. There are a number of hotels in the immediate vacinity, although I wouldn't like to comment on the suitability of any of them. However I believe that a similar question was posted a few weeks / months ago. As I recall this was answered by Nicelife who offered some hotel suggestions.
Regards
Andy
BTW Many of the main roads in Nice are in a fairly chaotic state / un-driveable at present due to the installation of a new tram system. Fortunately on my last visit (about a week ago) Ave Thiers was not one of them.
