Great location and view

In the center of Nice. Short walk to the port, old nice and the beach. Fantastic view of the Mediterranean. Very clean and comfortable rooms. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Climb to the top of the Chateau and enjoy the great views. Go to the cemetary on the way down to old Nice.

Terrific hotel by the bay

When I first saw the website for the Hotel Suisse, I knew we had to stay there. Then I started to wonder if what they were promoting could possibly be true. I couldn't find many current reviews of the hotel, but we figured we would take a chance anyway. When we arrived at the hotel, the location was as promised - right on the Promenade des Anglais at the far end of the bay. After checking in, we went to our room and opened the door - and fell in love with the place.

Looking from the doorway of our room, we could look straight out of the terrace windows and see the sea and beach. Wow! The room was actually spacious compared to other European hotels we have seen. The furnishings were nice, the room bright, the bathroom clean with a tub and shower attachment. Oh, and the terrace, we had a terrace with a table and three chairs that we could sit out on and watch the sea each evening and morning.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the location was awesome, breakfast was substantial (and delicious) and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

Would I recommend the hotel to others? You better believe it. We can't wait to go back and enjoy it ourselves.

Unique Quality: The most outstanding quality of the hotel was its location and views of the bay. The beach was located right across the street as was the promenade.

What a View!

At the very Eastern tip of the Promenade, set into a cliff as the road curves around a bend, at the base of an old castle, is the hotel we stayed at: Hotel Suisse (http://www.hotels-ocre-azur.com/index.php?lang=english). We loved this hotel! We had requested a room with a view, and wound up with what had to be the best room in the hotel. We were on the 5th floor (out of 5), and had a large balcony, which provided an absolutely breathtaking view of the curving coastline and Old Nice. The staff was very friendly, and as long as we knew a few key phrases in French, and were polite, with a lot of “s’il vous plaît,” and “merci,” we got along just fine. Most people responded to us in English anyway (probably due to our tell-tale American pronunciation of their language), but we think our attempt to speak the language was appreciated. The breakfast was not included here, and we only had it once out of our 3 days in Nice. At 15€, it was a little pricey, and we found the cafes in Old Nice offered a “petite dejeuner” for about half the price.

Great view of the Mediterranean

We stayed here 3 nights and absolutely loved it. It's across the street from the beach, and a 5 minute walk to Cours Saleya and the Old Town. Our room had a spectacular view of the Mediterranean, and a tiny balcony from which to enjoy it. The bedroom was plain, but spacious. The bathroom was done up in red tile and looked newly renovated.

Unique Quality: Gorgeous view of the sea

Unique setting overlooking the Baie des Anges

Unique Quality: For view and location you will find it hard to beat Hotel Suisse. Built onto the rock face beneath to ascent to the Chateau, adjoining the Tour Bellanda where the composer Berlioz once lived, people in nearby apartments have paid millions to enjoy that view.

Low season no sea view 55 e, Seaview 95 - 130 e according to height

Commanding a unique view of the sweep of the Bay des Ange, it is minutes away from the Cours Saleya and the Ponchettes., and the run to the Port around the corner

At three stars, prices are not unreasonable and by reputation the service is good. But you can get good service anywhere - you can't get that view just anywhere!

To find anywhere in Nice for which you have a street name and number, for a street-level view of the building and location map, go here: Nice - Voila!

Best View!

Located minutes from Old Nice. A view that is no doubt the best of any hotel in NIce. Very reasonable cost, staff very helpful, clean ,comfortable rooms. I have stayed here 3 different times and would not consider staying at any other hotel. They do have beach rights.

Unique Quality: Great view! Great location to old town.

More about Hotel Suisse

Hotel Suisse--"Court Views" are Air Shafts

by A TripAdvisor Member

Word to the wise budget traveller--If you don't pay the money for an ocean view and opt for the "court view," all there is an air shaft. The hotel is built against a bedrock cliff, so if your room does not face the ocean all you get is an airshaft. The windows are opaque, hinge open at the bottom, thus no natural light enters your room. You must walk out of the hotel to determine the weather for the day. You can peer up the airshaft to figure out if it is night or day. If you have an ocean view and open the windows you will also get all the noise from the busy motorway below.

Good choice

Hotel Suisse is the hotel you need when you want to have a good one night spent in Strasbourg, as it is in the centre too, and the price is really good!

Another happy customer

by A TripAdvisor Member

Picked Hotel Suisse from comments on Tripadvisor forum. Not disappointed. A weekend early December - we just missed a storm and the weather was beautiful. Got 5th floor rooms with fabulous views of bay and city. Only the sound of the waves came through the glass doors although the traffic was busy below. Chose superior room which has view and small balcony. Rack rate 110/120 euros. We paid 91. Traditional room has view but no balcony. Most expensive rooms have larger balcony. As far as we could figure out, the only rooms without view are some singles at the back. These might be good value even so as the location is great - 5 minutes into old town restaurants and shops. Breakfast in the market is perfect.
Rooms clean and elegant although small. Staff lovely.

Superb view

by TripAdvisor Member gaskin

We have just returned from nice where we spent our first night at La Suisse. We had apparently the best room in the house!!! Although it cost E121 we had wanted something special and we got it. The room was spacious with a large balcony on the front of the hotel on the second floor(room 212). The bathroom looks as if it has been recently refurbished and although it only had a hand held shower was very plush with nice toileteries. The larger than average size (King) bed was extremely comfortable and with nicely matching bed linen.
However, it has to be the view and the balcony that did it for us - SPECTACULAR. The hotel overlooks the bay of Nice and the large sweep of the Promenade Des Anglais. We just sat and watched the world go by. The sun is on the balcony in february in mid afternoon - so make sure you are there to enjoy it!!!!
Breakfast we had read mixed reviews about and at E15 I have to say i did think twice - however it was a wonderful breakfat with a whole range of cold meats, boiled eggs, toast and breads and cereals and fruit. The self service breakfast is served in the breakfast room again overlooking the bay and has been decorated in pastel colours and matching seating uphostery. The hotel offers free wireless acces so remember to take your lap top!!! All in all we would fully recommend Hotel Suisse particularly for a special romantic occassion.
