Very Tranquil
by TripAdvisor Member soulhaven
I was in Nice in June (06) and stayed 8 days at Villa victoria. The staff was great and helpful. The rooms were spotless. Breakfast was plentiful and had samplings of everything to get you going for the day of sightseeing.
I enjoyed my stay and would come again!!
Very nice hotel

Would definitely stay here again. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and our room, 205 was lovely (small balcony overlooking the garden). The breakfast was excellent with a nice variety (cereal, fruit salad, yogurt, viennoiseries, hard boiled eggs ...). After checking out on our last day in Nice, we left our luggage at the hotel (in a locked room next to the front desk) while we spent the day in town.
Superb hotel !!!

Hi ! , I stayed at the Villa Victoria for 6 nights, and it truly was a lovely experience !.Due to both planes being delayed, I only arrived at the hotel around 1 am , But was checked in quickly & with no fuss.& Greeted by my `name` too, which was a `nice` touch !..I stayed in room 309, it was a room `overlooking` the gardens at the back of the hotel, please note, I didn`t actually pay any extra for this, i did however `email` the hotel direct ( before my arrival ) , to enquire about getting a room over the garden, rather than being at the front, so either they had noted my request, or whether it was luck, i`m not sure !...As a single traveller , i was pleased to find i was in a `double room` anyway, so that was an excellent start !.The room, was so clean & very well furnished, the bed very comfortable, and overall the room was VERY spacious...i appreciated the `little extras`...your `own safe` , tea & coffee making facilities , 2 bottles of water , your own `little` fridge, in addition to the usual soap & shower gels etc. & very clear instructions as to what the hotel offered , Plus the fact it had an excellent `Air Conditioning` system. The Bathroom was very clean, with a plentiful supply of hot water, so no problems there.....Now onto the Breakfasts, on the first couple of days, i have to admit, there really wasn`t much choice, but for the remainder , there was plentiful supplies of everything you could want, Maybe another `problem` is that often, there is only one member of staff, for breakfast duty & i felt sorry for her, faced with all the work she had to do, but they are both minor points. The Rooms were cleaned EVERY day, to a very high standard...All the staff on `reception` spoke excellent English & were very knowledgable,They were always ready to give you maps & directions etc & on leaving, were only too pleased to phone for a Taxi to take me to the Airport ..I would definately stay here again & would highly recommend it - both as a superb Hotel & an ideal `base` in which both to explore Nice & the surrounding areas !.As one of the earlier reviewers noted, maybe it is `unwise` to recommend this hotel too much, for fear of it being `Full`, if you wanted to stay there again in the future, so fingers crossed !!!
Not if you want a good nights sleep !

Lets keep things in perspective, this is a good hotel but not a great one - pick it up and put it back down in a quieter location, away from the very busy road it is located on and it would deserve higher praise. We were at the front, where the heavy traffic is pretty much without pause until well past midnight. Then you can get off to sleep for 3 or 4 hours until the lorry comes to empty the bins (3.45am during our visit) or the lorry comes to deliver hotel provisions (6ish). The hotel claims to have "soundproofed rooms" but we found the 3mm double-glazing just not up to the job. Reading other reviews it seems that things may be considerably better at the back, overlooking the garden - I imagine they might be to some extent. However, noise from other rooms can also be a problem, especially from those above - conversations can be plainly heard. Many reviews make a big point of the hotel's cleanliness - agreed it's pretty clean, but it could be better - our shower overflowed on its first use due (on examination) to the plug-hole being absolutely full of hair and other gunk and seemingly not having been cleaned out properly for quite a while. However, when we reported this, remedial action was swift, complete and delivered with apology. In fact, the big plus point we found were the reception staff who were all 5-star - all without exception, unfailingly cheerful, (even when we returned once in the early hours), and very helpful. We were even treated to unprompted tea and coffee on arriving a little in advance of check in time on our first day, which was very welcome. Other plus points, location (from point of view of proximity to station, promenade and old town), the garden terrace for breakfast, the breakfast itself which was very good, and the locked room and receipt ticket system for your luggage after checkout. Overall, for Nice it represents fairly good value, but unless you're a bomb-proof sleeper choose a garden room and even then maybe pack ear-plugs just in case.
a good value at Villa Victoria
by TripAdvisor Member janeharriet
My group of three stayed at the Villa Victoria for two nights in September at the beginning of a two week trip to the South of France. We stayed for one night in October at the end of our trip. Overall we felt the hotel was a good choice.
The hotel is easy to get to from the airport. We did not have a car while in Nice but there is a garage near by.
While not directly at the ocean, it is a short walk to both the Promenade (at rue Congess) and into the pedestrian area so the location was fine. They also have a garden in the back that seems quiet and relaxing.
The service at the check in desk was friendly and prompt. We had flown into Nice early in the morning (9:00 A.M.) so our rooms were not ready but the gladly stored our bags for us.
The rooms (one single and one twin) were fine - decent size, nicely appointed, modern bathrooms and very clean and welcoming.
The breakfast was very good with freshly squeezed orange juice every day - a plus. They had a full range of breakfast foods - from juice to eggs and good strong coffee.
If you are staying in Nice for a while, you might want to look closer to the ocean, but this is a good value hotel and they do have an agreement with one of the Beach Clubs for their guests.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and would return to this hotel again.
Very French
by TripAdvisor Member JanetPLiverpool
A very french stay. Room and bathroom excellent size and standard. Road the hotel is on is busy but you are in France. Excellent location 3-4 roads in from the promenade. Breakfast expensive but quite good, save your money after the first morning and go to a local cafe. Hotel staff very helpful, multilingual and pleasant.
Great location - a touch noisy
by TripAdvisor Member calnor
We stayed for 3 nights. The room was more than adequate with two twin beds and a separate single. The cleanliness was very much appreciated. Nothing too much trouble for the staff - excellent english. The only drawback was the noise during the night. We had to close all our windows as our room (307) overlooked the garden and due to the good weather this was used quite late into the night for drinks etc. There is also a disco in the next street which proved very noisy on the Sat night - maybe we should have joined in. The hotel arranged our trip to Monaco & Monte Carlo, no hassle - which was fantastc. Would definately stay again with ear plugs or disco shoes! The breakfast was good - continental - again nothing too much trouble for the staff.
Charming Location

We stayed here over the Monaco Grand Prix weekend for 4 nights. The hotel was a short walk to the train station and in the opposite direction, the boardwalk and beach. The room was quaint with a small balcony overlooking the gazebo in the garden. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and when they knew we went the the Grand Prix, they left us a note with a chocolate F1 car! Very thoughtful! The elevator is only big enough for 2 with luggage! We found that to be a charming addition and smiled each time we walked to and from it.
A great place to relax!

We stayed at Villa Victoria for four nights and were very impressed with this hotel. Firstly, it's in an excellent location (only a short walk to the Promenade De Anglais, Old Town, and shops etc). It's also convenient to the Railway Station which (given the price of cabs in Nice) is useful. The staff are excellent; friendly and helpful and the room is nicely appointed, clean and bright. We had a room overlooking the garden, so noise wasn't an issue. Breakfast is the standard French continental affair. Overall can definitely recommend this hotel.
