Explore Nice's Old Quarter and attend the local market. Visiting the Old Quarter of the city is like stepping back into a time long past. The streets are small and wind in circles. There are many small shops and restaurants. It is so different from the modern city that has grown up around it.
Walk along 'La Promenade des Anglais"
by Elainehead
Walk along 'La Promenade des Anglais'. It starts on Casino Ruhl (1, Promenade des Anglais).
It gets really crowded here in the summer, but it's less crowded in winter. In Nice, winter means you are going to have the warmest weather in France (between 5 to 15 Celsius), so take advantage of it and admire the landscape!
WEBCAM: http://www.nicetourism.com/GB/frameset/voir/frameset_webcam.html When my oldest sister first saw Promenade des Anglais, she said it reminded her of Avenida Atl?ntica, which is the world famous avenue along the shore of Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro. No wonder Rio de Janeiro and Nice became sister cities in April of 1977!!!!
If you want to check the slight resemblance, check Avenida Atlântica livecam (choose the "Avenida Atlântica esquina da Avenida Rainha Elizabeth da Bélgica" cam):

P.S.: Don't forget the time zone difference!

Banks and exchange bureaux give better exchange rates for traveller's cheques than for cash; Banque de France offers the best rates in the country. France's ATMs are plentiful and accept all the major international credit and bank cards. I believe though if you have a card with more than a 4 digit pin, you may have a little trouble with the machines there.
Day trip to Eze village
by Nice2004
A wonderful day out from Nice and really a 'must see', Eze is a lovely medieval perched village about 30 minutes from Nice. Full of little winding streets, smalls shops and resturants, and from the Jardin Exotique (you have to pay to get in) you get fabulous views over the coast and down to Eze bord de la mer.
Take the 82 / TAM 112 bus from the Gare Routiere in Nice. Website link for bus timetable: http://www.lignedazur.com/ftp/lignes/82.pdf
Cours Saleya
by kenningst about Cours Saleya
Visit the morning market at Cours Saleya and you will be able to find loads of stuffs one sale. From flowers to cheese to meats. I really enjoyed this market and was utterly impressed with the variety that they have here. I manage to pack my lunch here as well at a very low price. Their morning market closes at around 1pm.
At night, the same street, Cours Saleya, transforms itself to become the concetration of cafe, pubs and restaurant serving very yummy french cuisines at a very reasonable price. So reasonable, that we ate here 2 nights in a row.
