Hotel Ostende: The second cheapest hotel in Nice

We stayed for 3 nights. Its very convenient to the main train station. The staff are very friendly and all can speak English and Italian. Rooms are basic but clean and quiet if you can get one that faces onto the inner courtyard.

Unique Quality: I think that its the second cheapest and best value hotel in Nice given its location. This accounts for why it always appears to be full (complet) so book ahead. a single room with a bath was 33 euros with a double 50

Self Catered Apartment in Nice: Living Like a Local in Nice

For our 4 day duration in Nice, we stayed in an apartment as opposed to a hotel. Again, this is the best thing for a traveller to do. Our apartment was beautiful, spacious, clean, and more than we could have expected! The wonderful owners provided us with lots of extra pillows, bathing items like scented soaps, towels, and even things like tea and olive oil!
The apartment also had a balcony, which we loved to sit on and watch people walk by on the warm summer nights. The apartment had a foyer, two bedrooms, storage room (which contained a queen mattress, two beach chairs and sun umbrellas, umbrella for the rain and other handy things), full kitchen, washroom w/ shower (good shower too!), dining room and living room! Hardly roughing it, but was actually very affordable. If I ever went back to Nice, I would not give a second thought as to staying here. Simply fantastic.

Unique Quality: As I said above, this place has everything an upscale apartment would. The best feature again has to be the balcony. There are two, one where there were clothes lines so we could hang our laundry (the apartment has a washer, but no dryer). The other balcony wraps around the building. Although not very wide, it's big enough to set a chair outside.

The apartment costs $1100 USD a week ($1216 CAD) and has a 3 night minimum stay. For four girls, that came to $39.29 USD a night!

On the website, it is property # 61706

Various: Apartment Accommodation

We have never had any difficulty finding a short term apartment to rent. Amongst the many advantages are the ability to deal direct with the owner, to share accommodation of 2 or more bedrooms and to enjoy often spacious accommodation at a fraction of the price you might pay at a hotel.

Two sites we have found very useful and where you can book on-line are:

http://www.homelidays.com/
http://www.interhome.com/

Both sites include accommodation throughout Europe and elsewhere.

List of hotels and personal preference: All hotels are Nice

In the URL enclosed a list of all hotels in nice. However I must emphasis that prices inside towns are always higher then in places outside town. In the inland mountains the villages offer great B&B places, romantic as well as luxereous. Also, in the mountains the temperatures are lower then along the coastline and in town. Here one can have temperatures at night being more comfortable. For those who can't stand the heat ... look up a nice place in the mountains just behind Nice (to town it anyway will be only half an hour.
