THE Place to Stay if you are travelling to Monaco-Monte Carlo

Wonderful Staff and most of them are fluent in many languages. They aim to please. The views are wonderful. The grounds are nice to walk around. The hotel is spotless and rooms were recently redone; very clean yet oh, so cozy. The shuttle is wonderful.
You can be taken for sightseeing spots, dinner, and the casino. There is also a city bus, #6 that takes you all over town for a couple Euros. It runs every 20 minutes or so and can be caught right up at the corner.
For any type of help at all ask for Simoh, the conceirge. He will give you the best holiday possible. He tunes into his guests very fast finds just the right restaurant for you or the perfect place to go shopping, whatever you want, he can help. You will feel instantly safe and secure.
Both the restaurant and bar areas were great too.
The pool is also being refurbished and should be finished soon. What a great location.

Nice Get Away

The hotel is situated on the marina. It's about a 15 minute walk from the center and there is not too much around the hotel, like restaurants, cafes and shops. For me it was a bit out of the way.

They do have a complimentary shuttle at the hotel that drives to the center of Monaco at certain times of the day. But the shuttle times are not very reliable. If you want to see the Cote D'Azul, I suggest the best way would be to rent a car. The hotel has a garage, but you'll have to pay about 25 euros per day.

The staff is friendly. The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and very clean. The beds are comfy. Our room had a balcony over looking the marina, it was a nice plus and it had a table and chairs for you to enjoy the view.

Breakfast was nice and included with our stay but the food at the restaurant for dinner was nothing much to write about.

Monaco is a nice area for the filthy rich. I wouldn't end up staying there again, cause you can see Monaco in a day and the drive to get there can be very hair raising. I would have preferred staying in Nice and going to Monaco for a day trip.

Overall the hotel is above average if money is not an issue and being located on a marina a bit away from the center is what your looking for.

OK, but nothing special

Unlike many of the other reviewers, I was not wildly impressed with this hotel. This is not to say that there was anything wrong with it, but I did not find it to be anything special. The room was quite small, bathroom not that clean (hair on the floor, stains on the toilet). Food in the restaurant was not bad for dinner but expensive, quite good for breakfast. Room rates are expensive for what they are, but I guess this close to Monaco you cannot expect miracles.

Great Hotel

Myself and my husband stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and we were very impressed. The rooms were very nice and clean and we had a wonderful view and the beds are the comfiest beds we have ever slept in!!
The breakfast was fantastic - especially the omlettes.
The courtesy bus that takes you to Monte Carlo was very handy and they will drop you off where you like.
Simoh, the conceirge was very helpful, he recommended some great restaurants so if in doubt ask!
We took the helicopter from Nice to Monaco and it was well worth it.

If you are due to stay here you will enjoy it.

Everything was right

Booked on the Marriott site at a very good rate for Monaco. Paid a bit more for the harbour view. Nice spot, away from traffic so it is nice and pieceful but you can still get to Monaco town centre easy (we had a car which took a couple of mins).

The standard of the hotel was excellent, bed big and comfortable, room was to a very good standard and very clean. We had a big balcony with a view to the boats in the harbour. Nice little harbour.

The staff were excellent, professional and friendly. Very nice restaurant and bar(the singer/pianist was brilliant). Although we had only one night there the food was great. Breakfast was very good if you go for the continental. I recommend having it sent to your room and eating on the balcony which was reasonable for the price.

To sum this up I highly recommend this place for the standard / price. Although it is not right in the centre the centre of Monaco is easy to get to and in fact found I preferred being away from that.

Very good Hotel

We stayed for 9 nights in the beginning of july. This was the first time we stayed at this hotel and we liked it a lot.
We had a deluxe harbour view room with a king bed, we could not get a non-smoking room so they put us on the smoking floor, but we never had any problems. The room did not smell of smoke neither could we feel anything from the other balconies.
Our room had a very nice balcony with a table and two chairs and a splendid view over the Cap D'ail harbour. There was a minibar and lots of closet space in the room. Iron and ironboard were located just outside our room in a seperate room with an icemachine as well. You can empty the minibar fridge and fill it with your own stuff, they don't mind.
We had breakfast included in the roomrate and it was very nice. There's a buffet from 07 to11 in the morning and it is very nice. They make you omelets as you wish and there many different things to choose from. Although when you have the same buffet
for 9 days, you tend to get a bit tired of the same things everyday.
We tried the restaurant one evening and they have a 20 EUR buffet every night, so if you don't want to go out one evening, the buffet at the hotel is a OK place to get a meal.
We did not use the concierge much. He could not really accomodate our wishes and one time gave us wrong advice regarding a restaurant so we just stopped asking him.
The hotel is close to Monte Carlo, about 15-20 min walk when you now where to go. The first time it may take 45 min because the fastest way is not that obvious. The beach is very near and there is the possibility of renting sun beds instead of lying on the rocks of Plage Marquet. Try the beach in Monto Carlo as well, it is much better and the service of especially Z Plage is very good.
A note on transport. If you fly into Nice Cote d'Azur the easiest way to get to the hotel is by helicopter. If you don't want to do that busline 110 towards Menton stops right at the Marriott front door. It's 15.50 EUR one way pr. person and it comes and goes every hour.
The reason we don't give the hotel top rating is that the rooms are a bit worn down and we did not get the level of cleaniless and service from housekeeping that is usually provided on Marriott hotels.
We had a vey good time and used the free shuttle a couple of times, just remember to book the shuttle in advance. It fills up quickly. All in all it was a great stay in a great area.
We recommend this hotel for anyone travelling to Monaco.

Great Service with a lot of walking!

Room: Medium size room. Had a room with a king bed with down comforter, bed was very comfortable. We had a mountain view room on the sixth floor. It was July and very hot...they have Air Con but it didn't work so well. Luckily we had brought a fan with us.

Bathroom: Shower and toilet seemed clean. Sink was showing signs of wear with cracks in it. Other than that it was decent - just not modern. Toiletries provided were nice.

Amenities: Pool area was nice. The bar had good food for a quick lunch. Breakfast was good - fresh fruit and omelets made to order.

Service: Staff was friendly and concierge provided good restaurants in our price range. Also, recommended restaurants that were off the beaten path and very cozy. Shuttle service was convenient - every hour but does not run late.

Neighborhood: not much in the area of the hotel. If you like to walk then it is a great place to stay. We mostly walked to Monte Carlo instead of taking the shuttle - great exercise. There is a public beach close to the hotel that is not as crowded as the Monte Carlo public beach. We didn't mind the walking b/c the price was right for us - it is a give and take when vacationing in an expensive area such as Monoco.

Overall it was a good place to stay for the price.

Great Place to stay

My mother, sister and I stayed here for 2 nights in May. I loved the hotel. We had a room with 2 queen beds, sofa and a balcony. It was the best place we stayed in all of Europe. Breakfast was expensive as was dinner but it was to be expected for the area. We had a little trouble arriving at the hotel. We got off the train in Cap d'Ail instead of Monaco. BIG MISTAKE. We ended up having to walk up a huge hill to a bar and BEG a taxi to take us to the hotel. I guess they won't go over the border?? Finally, a taxi took us for the 5 minute ride for 20 Euros. Get off the train in Monaco. The hotel was great though.

Up and down: Huge difference in service!

If you are looking for a decent service in a hotel you might want to think twice about this one.

When we arrived we were informed that our room was not ready yet, but that was fair as we were in a bit before check in time was due. Come back later and all will be well, they said. I asked if they had blocked a high floor room, answer: 'Sure its on the tenth overlooking the sea' (as we had booked). Great! Went into town, got back at 5.30pm (check in was at 15.00) No room, but give us 30 more mins and you'll be able to check in. Sure fine, we're on holiday. Went back got the keys roomno 216... hmm that wouldn't be by any chance on the 2nd floor would it now? Yep, seaview NO! We we're put at the back with no view, in a smaller room. This was a pain to say the least as we needed a roll away bed in the room. Barely possible, and impossible according to the Marriott website, which was the reason we booked a deluxe and not the standard. Went back down, answer: Sorry we overbooked. (Wrong answer, especially if we tried to check in earlier and got nothing) After a lot of hassle we we're able to get up to the tenth floor with a view that wasn't to bad I must admit! But still thje roomsize was to small, and no balcony! Couldn't be moved to the front beacuse they we're full. Maybe the last night (we we're staying 3). After a lot of pleading and practicaly begging we we're able to move the next day (thought you we're full, sorry people after us!) This person was a lot more understanding, and we could leave our bags, just go out and we'll take care of it. That we didn't do, not wanting to come back to some lame excuse again, and behold we were moved.

Seemed like a do it yourself hotel. Had to ask for everything (some occasions twice). Housekeeping was great/really bad/good. Breakfast was nice, one day we asked for cappucino and tea, next day the lady greeted us, and alsked if we would like cappucino and tea. Great thanks! Next day we were offered a choice, coffee or tea. Took forever, she came back: You can get your tea and coffee at the buffet, ehhh why did you offer to get it for us then? And why could your other collegues bring it to us? Handy to have a certain kind of consiquent level of service right?

Pool was packed every morning, by towels reserving the seats, no actual people sitting on the sunbeds though! Staff did nothing to prevent the pool form being reserved at 8 am. Shame, could have done with a morning dip and sun.

The hotel in the end compensated me for the trouble, but do you really want to be compensated in stead of having some much wanted time away from the daily stress of having to do it all yourself? I just wanted a nice vacation.

So all in all you need to be firm in your demands at this hotel. And the staff is either really great, or really lousy, nothing in between. And thats a shame because it could be a really great hotel. Maybe it was summer and everybody was streched to the limit, but the differences were to big for me.

Locaton wise it isn't in the middle of things, its quite a (pleasant) walk into Monaco, note that the hotel is NOT in Monaco (nor do they suggest it is). It's actually in France. If you're anywhere near disabled take the shuttle. Monaco (and surroundings) goes up and down.

Room was typical Marriott, good bed, nice bathroom but showing it's age. Have a good and safe trip wherever you're going!

A bad situation turned good... but not here!

My husband and I made a reservation using our Marriott points, for one night (August 29), back in May.

I had confimed my reservation with them two days prior to arrival, and they confirmed again via email with our reservation.

We were arriving from Italy and the directions off of the hotel site seemed fairly direct. They were not. It should of taken us 1 hour max to get to the hotel, it took close to 2 hours.

Finally, we gave up on the printed directions and tried following their signs posted in the area. One sign said turn right, we did, we were at a dead end and the hotel was not there.

If this was not frustrating enough, we arrived at the hotel only to find that they do not have valet parking and had to self park at the garage behind them, which you can only get to by circling around town yet again. The porter felt badly for us as as I was nearly in tears from exhaustion and aggravation by the time we got there, and offered to drive with us so that we would not get lost again. He was very nice. He also mentioned that 99 in 100 guests get lost as the signs are incorrect.

Okay, now we are here, we schlep our heavy luggage to the front desk... whew...

We are told a strange story of how the hotel is fully booked and the guest who was in our designated room had not evacuated it, and they were not able to find them.. The hotel informed us that because of this, they would have to put us up in another hotel. I was very upset by this, as I had travelled for quite a while and just wanted to check in and take a nap. Also, the story sounded sort of strange to me and I had the feeling that they were lying to us.

They did however put us up in a hotel that was FAR NICER than theirs... paid for our room with breakfast incldued, and for our parking. So at least this was done.

Also, upon leaving the other hotel, we met another family who was also relocated to this hotel. However, they seemed to get the truth from the Marriott- "sorry, due to a conference, we have overbooked and need to put you up elsewhere... Not sure why we got the made up version,.

Anyway, i'm sorry that I cannot comment on any of the other aspects of this hotel- just the staff and parking....

You may want to consider staying elsewhere. This type of thing happens, but it not does make for a relaxing vacation.
