Celebrating a significant birthday

"Travels with my daughter"
Determined not to wake up in a grey cold England on my BIG birthday, I decided to brush up my French. As my late husband had to taken me to Mont St Michel on my 40th birthday (I'm not telling you how many years previously) I decided to try the South of France this time around. Having checked out hotel reviews on this (and other) sites I settled on the Mercure Grimaldi, and was quite pleased with my choice. It is a short walk to the Promenade des Anglais, the pedestrianised zone, and the Cours Saleya, or flower market. The weather was fantastic and I plan to repeat the experience this year. Toussaint (Nov 1st) is a holiday in France, so it makes the day really special. My beautiful daughter came with me and fell in love with Nice too. I think we probably picked the best time to go.

by beanyboy
hi Everyone . This is my first go at this sort of thing.
If i have a choice between Hotels Grimaldi, Harvey,Windsor or Gounod... Has anyone got any experience or advice on the best one to stay at for about 8 days in June 2005.
Also is there any decent Jazz (Modern if poss) or any type of Jazz would be welcome ,in Nice and where would I go to hear it in the evenings.
Any and as many contributioins on advice would be welcome and by the way thenkyou in advance.
Cheers . Ken.

I have stayed Mercure Grimaldi - it has a nice open roof with good view ,and central location is hard to beat for the price, which was very reasonable.
Live Jazz music is limited - check who is on at Cannes and the concert hall at Nice for the time you are here. FNAC sells tickets for all major events. (Nice Etoiles top floor kiosk)
Enjoy.
