Nice lays near places as Cannes, Antibes, Juan les Pins and Monaco / Monte Carlo. This part of France is called 'The Cote Azur' or translated 'The Azur Blue Coast'. The sea here is the Mediterranean Sea. The water is crystalclear and you can see the fishies here :) You can see how Nice is situated on the map on the picture.
Hen weekends
by NiceLife
As the season warms up expect the hen-count to rise. Nice is very female-friendly and generally very safe - and a magnet for those hen-weekends of six to eight girls out together for a a good weekend - away from the pressures of work and the men back home.
The men back home can now all have their mates around, drink beer and watch football, with a clear conscience.
Local food

If you like pancakes, crêpes, you HAVE TO EAT SOCCA (Note: this is salty). Socca is a sort of pancake made from chick-pea flour and on a large round (50-70 cm diameter) copper "pie tin" (plaque) and cooked in a very hot wood-fired oven for about six minutes, until the top is golden. The copper is important for spreading the heat evenly.
Note: You eat this with your fingers.
One portion costs around 2€50 - 3€.
Eze Village
by Kate-Me
On our tour, one of the optional excursions was to a little hilltop village just out of Nice, called Eze. I can't remember a lot about it, but it seemed to be a bit of a haven for artists.
I can just remember the spectacular, unforgettable views!
Entrevaux
by NiceLife
Some 70 km away from Nice on the Route Napoleon followed by the Chemin de Fer de Provence narrow guage railway is the medieval village of Entrevaux. Three or four trains a day leave on the Nice-Digne route and Entrevaux is about an hour and a half journey, cost around 12 euro for the round trip. There are "age-discounts" which I found beneficial if not hard to face up to.
Entrevaux was a key regional access point in the middle ages and has a rich and interesting history. There is easily enough to keep you occupied for an hour and a half stopover, including a steep climb up to the fortification on the hiltop above, with fine views of the Var valley, a cathedral, a moto-museum, and mercifully few souvenir and T-shirt shops or coach parties.
Most visitors find the full three hours trip each way to Digne too much, and Entrevaux is an ideal compromise
