Apartment in Nice

by Muscovite

Hello,

Does anyone by any chance know a reliable apartment in Nice, close to everything?

To rent - or preferably for a home exchange?

Re: Apartment in Nice

by nettyfitz

I haven't stayed in this apartment, but I have kept it bookmarked for quite a while for my next visit to Nice.

It looks very nice.

I can recommend this apartment
http://www.homelidays.com/EN-Holidays-Rental/110_Search/SearchList.asp?MODEAFFICHAGE=NONE&TYPE=&NBPERSONNES=&ADR_PAYS=&ADR_LOCALISATION=&noregion=Not+available&IDX_LOCALISATION=0&DESTINATION=&JOURDEBUT=&MOISANNEEDEBUT=&JOURFIN=&MOISANNEEFIN=&PK=97828&IMAGE1=

It's in Old Nice, excellent security, spacious and light and airy, all facilities provided, plus basic foodstuffs. The owners are very careful and will require a deposit in advance, plus a security deposit. The apartment is close to shops and transport, 5 minutes walk to the beach, 2 minutes to the old town and all the alleys and shops. Sheets and towels are a chargeable extra, but you are better to bring or buy your own.

Re: Apartment in Nice

Thanks everyone,

I'll look into these.
Can use more, too :)

I recommend you to visit Desigparis: www.desigparis.com/en/ Here you can find cheap apartments for rent in Paris

Re: Apartment in Nice

Steve 51,

Did you stay in this apartment? Which way do you take to the beach?

"Sheets and towels are a chargeable extra" - how much extra and why does one better buy one's own? Are those provided in such questionable condition?

I rented a two bedroom apt in Nice for mid march for ten days...i used Pebbles apt...google it and you will get plenty of pix....reasonable...i am paying about 80 a night and its close to the beach....good luck

Re: Apartment in Nice

Not bad, Maryann, 2 beds for 80
Will try it, thanks

Re: Apartment in Nice

sorry about the late reply - I have been on holiday !Sheets and towels (for 2 persons for 1 week) were 40 euro and I figured I could buy them for less than that. As it turned out, I brought old items from home and ditched them at the end of the stay. The way to the beach was down thru the old town, or you could walk around the old town via Place Garibaldi. Bus station for the airport is also walking distance

Re: Apartment in Nice

Thanks Steve,

I used to travel with my own tea kettle – a small one. But bringing own bed linen is a bit too much even for me. Next thing will be to bring one’s own sea!

Thanks nonetheless! I’ll keep searching.

Re: Apartment in Nice

yep, 40 euro is easier to carry.....but by the time that converts to NZ pesos, it's the price of new items....I figure you could buy the requisite in Nice for less !

Oh!
As locals would say - chapeau!

I used to think that we old Soviets are thrifty, but it looks like Kiwis will easily beat us :)

Travel Tips for Nice

Nice - Histiry (continued)

by Kuznetsov_Sergey

In 1748 Nice according the Aahen contract passed to a king of Sardinia. In 1792 Nice came in the structure of France. Napoleon used city in the Italian campaigns. However with wreck of empire Nice passed to Italian Piedmont.

And only in 1860 under the contract between Napoleon III and Victor Emmanuil II Nice has finally passed to France in exchange for support of king of Sardinia in struggle against Austria. Then Nice blossoming as the world resort - the French Riviera has begun.

The Place Massena fountain

by ange_famine

You need to know that this fountain (or absence of) has created a lot of debate lately.
When I was a kid, of course the tramway was not there, and the fountain was in place and fully functioning, with sculptures representing fierce-looking people and animals.

In the 1990, the town government had the strange idea of emptying the basin, filling it with sand, placing a palm tree on top and - ni vu ni connu j't'embrouille - no more fountain.

With the refurbished Place Massena, came back the fountain, the humans with bulls, horses and dolphins and...the naked Adonis, standing in the middle.
Outraging or natural? The nudity of the work of art is a topic of discussion among the elected. Shall we remove Adonis? Shall we keep him with a camouflaged manhood? Shall we...? Shall we...?

You get the picture. So go and see the naked Adonis for yourself while it's still there.
This picture was taken just before they put him back, I think.

TCDCA Shooting Club Of Riviera Gun

by mont-chauve

I recently visited this club and was made to feel most welcome. Heartily recommend.
At least 10 stands
Excellent food served @ lunch
Office Address : 62 Rue Gioffrédo 06000 Nice France. OFFICE Tel 04 93 13 00 51 You can normally use a club gun and will be welcome as a guest at most clubs. Passport needed.
You can get a license fairly easily, allowing you to buy....
You have to have an address in France
Join a Club and ask them for a 'Federation Francaise de Tir' License.
The club will issue the license and send off paperwork to the authorities.
Once you have this licence you are then free to buy a shotgun. In the case of pistols before you can buy, you need to shoot a number of times at any club, which will be recorded on your shoot record card.

CANNES
When visiting French...

by Pomska

CANNES
When visiting French Riviera and Nice you should also visit Cannes. Cannes is
definitely the town of festivals, the resort of rich and famous. Cannes has
casinos, fairs, beach, boat and street life. It's just fun to observe the life
of 'glamorous' people. When we were at Cannes there were great
fireworks but I don't remember why.
The heart of the city is built round the Bay of Cannes and the palm-fringed
seafront boulevard de la Croisette. There are luxorious boutiques and hotels. Cannes' beach is the best star-spotter's beach. Cannes' beautiful setting, with its scenic harbour, casino and stylish beaches attracts the rich and famous. </

HEY WINOS!

by lulujones

i saw this ad recently and thought HOW CHEAP! you can get 10 bottles of wine for less than 10 euros. it might not be the creme de la creme of wines but it's not horrible (in other words, most of the wine is quite fine; it won't kill you, hopefully :-)). it also made me realize how cheap alcohol is in france. not long ago, i was in a supermarket waiting in line and a guy cut in front of me to buy a can of beer and it was like 25 cents! also to note: a glass of beer in a cafe is cheaper than a cup of coffee. fun, non? BOOOOOOOOOOZE

at these prices, it may be worth buying a couple of cases and sending some back home. possible gifts for your co-workers, friends or family. the french export tax on alcohol is high but it may still be a bargain. but please check out the wine first to see if it ok! 99 cents a bottle (when it's on sale!)
