The ski courses

Even if you are already able to ski, I would still recommend taking some extra ski course. I was in the “advanced level” course. Our monitor was totally crazy (in the good way). If we were not speeding through the domain or practicing some of his tips, he was simply bringing us off-piste. That’s something I wouldn’t have done on my own but since this guy perfectly knew the domain, I had no specific concern. I simply had to concentrate not to fall in the powder…

The Red slopes

From La Mayt (2580m) going down to Vars Ste Marie, Olympique superieur and inferieur are two red slopes I have particularly liked. Long, steep, in good conditions, that’s just perfect to practice what you have learned or simply to speed…however since they are the main access to the domain for the Vars Ste Marie village, I wouldn’t go there in the morning: the ski lifts were crowded. On the other hand when we were there almost at closing time, the slopes were almost empty, a real pleasure…

Another great place is « l’Homme de Pierre » (2361m). From there you have a wonderful view on the “Serre-Poncon” lake, an artificial lake created to produce electricity. That’s also from there that two great slopes are starting: Aigle and Choucas, quite long and steep, just perfect when it is not too cold or the wind is not blowing…

Risoul - my first skiing experience

"Risoul is nice....."

Risoul is a nice place to ski and board. I went there in january 2001 (my first time skiing) and in january 2004, when I was guiding the group.

The picture here is taken on the slope, behind me you can see the Lac du Serre Poncon!
