Vence or St.-Paul-de-Vence

by Greely

Which town would be better to stay for a night?

Saint Paul is a great fortified town with a lot to see in the day time, and a world class restaurant located at the La Colombe d'Or with works of the artists of the past on the wall. This is a first class hotel in town,as well. Vence is pretty, but not the tourist destination and draw of Saint Paul. One of the sights to see is the Maeght Foundation located near the town, fantastic art of Miro is displayed and an outside gallery of sculpters of Miro's.

St. Paul de Vence

by gregoryr1m

This is a cool midievil town. It's a bit of a toursit trap with shops and art galleries and restaurants but it's fun to see nonetheless. Especially at a distance as the picture illustrates. It's centuries old.

I got the impression that this is a sheek place for artists to live.

As you can see the streets are very narrow - I suppose about 12 feet wide.

I couldn't resist a self portrait like this.
