Annecy to Geneva Airport

by travelfrosch

Does anyone have experience with the buses from Annecy to Geneva Airport and or Geneva Gare Routière? How reliable are they? A web-search indicates the Gare Routière is near a train station, but I get conflicting information as to whether it's near the Gare Cornavin or the Gare des Eaux-Vives. Thanks for any information/advice!

Gare Routière is about 500m from Gare Cornavin and a little more (7-800m) from Gare des Eaux-Vives, on the other side of the Rhône river.

OK, so it sounds like it's not a large problem to take the public bus to the Gare Routière, walk 500m to the Gare Cornavin, then take a train from there to the Airport. The private service directly to the airport was quite a bit more expensive, plus it didn't run at a time convenient for my flight.

Thanks for the information, Jean-Louis!

Geneva is not a very large town and distances are never very long. Cointrin airport is only 4 km away from the city center and from Cornavin! You might even walk to the airport (kidding!).

I know well Geneva but I drive my car and I do not use public transportation. Though, I feel that you might get a bus (may be 5, 10) from Gare Routière to the Airport.

I have just found that Frossard busses connect either directly Annecy to the airport (1 hour) or with a stop at Gare Routière (1h40) for 17.50 euros.

Hmm... no, I don't think we'll walk 4km with full packs and a baby. :o)

Thanks for the link -- the French version seems to give more detailed information than the English version. If I'm reading it correctly, the bus also stops at Gare Cornavin itself, for a cost of EUR 10.50. From there, standard Geneva public transit ticket (CHF 3.20 each if I'm reading the website correctly) should get us to the airport by train.

Hello!

Not easy easy...
No direct public transport really...
You can take a bus from Annecy coach station (near the train station) which will take you to the coach station in Geneva which is a few minutes walk from the train station of Geneva. So I think the best is to take a bus to the airport, but you will need me swiss change...and with the luggage not easy...
If you are travelling with friends, you might as well share a taxi...

Annecy has two lakes. The small lake with the canals in the heart of town and the big lake that has a view on the mountains. You can hire a boat here or a waterbike. In the city you can see nice churches and castles. For more information see the tips below :) Enjoy!

Le Château d'Annecy

by Klod5

By its silhouette, the castle of Annecy appears soon in a decor of mountains, soon like a signal himself remover on the horizon. It stays the major element of our archaeological heritage. Of left on the right, the Perriere tower that dominates the lake, whereas the towers Saint-Paul and Saint Peter face the city and that finally the Queen's massive tower constitutes the oldest construction of this whole (Xllth century). The defensive wall surmounted of a round path and taking support on this last tower is a beautiful military architecture specimen who permits to imagine the aspect of this fortress before the different lodgings came to overlap itself between the towers.

I do not know it's name - well in those days I dodn't know VT!
Nice setting. Any of the vegetarin dishes. It specialises in Italian style cuisine, so there is a lot of Pizza, pasta and so on, and also one of my favourites 'Aubergine Parmingano'. Mmmm!

Rue Sainte-Claire

by Lilasel

Bordered by irregular arcades, this street, whose existence dates back to the very origins of the town whose main route it made up, still surprises us today, by its width as well as by the spacious dimensions of the paths underneath the arches.

"Relaxation Land!!"

What a great little town!!! Myself, & two of my housemates went there on a day trip. It was a great summer day..spent it at the beach & playing in the water of the lake. The town itself is cute too...think of a cross of Venice & a little French town.
