Jobs

by richsmith

Hi.. Myself and a friend (who speaks French) will be visiting La Clusaz at the start of June for just one month. Is there any hope of us getting some kind of temporary job in La Clusaz or Annecy for such a short time?? Any ideas anyone? The money would be handy, but I'm also just slightly concerned that we might be bored spending a whole month in a village in the summer season. Any views on this aspect? Any responses would be much appreciated.. Thanks.

Re: Jobs

You don't say on your Home Page or your post above where you are resident. If you are not EU, you probably would not be able to get a job, especially for a month. You also didn't list any interests so it is difficult to tell if you would get bored. If you are the least interested in hiking and outdoor sports, you could not possibly get bored in that area. I don't think anyone could get bored in Annecy because there is so much to do, both in town and the surrounding countryside.

Do you have any particular interests for either job or touring?

Travel Tips for Annecy

La Visitation

by Klod5

This illuminated white arrow the night evokes the tutelary lamp that seems to watch over the city. This basilica constructed in 1922 was finished and dedicated that in 1949. The monastery of the Visitation and the parent company of the order founded in 1610 by Saint-François de Sales and Saint Jeanne de Chantal whose relics are preserved in this sanctuary. One counts nowadays, 190 convents of visitandines distributed all over the world.

Le Square Jean-Jacques Rousseau

by Klod5

Include a small basin dug in a dog house and surmounted of the philosopher's bust. An enrollment recalls that it is at this site, very near of the small lived house by Mrs. de Warens, today extinct, that Jean-Jacques Rousseau discovered the one that he was going to call «Mom» the day of Easter in bloom 1728. The writer evoked for a long time in his Confessions his stay in Annecy that had to continue until 1730. He will recover two years later Mrs. de Warens in the Charmetteses close to Chambery.

The Old City

by Goner

Annecy has an old town section with narrow streets and medieval buildings. You won't see many cars in the area so it's a very walkable area. There you will feel as if we were in a small, old French village. We found very few people here who spoke English, whether or not they understood, they didn’t speak it so be prepared.

Town at the clearest lake in Europe

by Martinewezel

A rainy day without sunbeam, a dramatic scenery for poetic language...

Ephise Simond 1895

"Wished I could have visited Annecy 100 years ago!"

The town is a real beauty, no doubt about it. However, it is ruined by mass tourism. 90% of the charming small houses in the old streets are now cheap restaurants, almost all pizza restaurants. The town is an ants' nest. There are too many people walking around.
The restaurant terraces along the river are way too narrow to put decent tables and chairs and still people are having lunch or dinner there... bothered by other hungry tourists, trying to wriggle themself throug a non existing gap, on their way to a free table further on.
Cozy for someone... the hell for another.

If I would ever come back, I would stay here, in this hotel: L'Impérial Palace. There we took the photo of the lake, at the top of this page. The hotel garden breaths the early 20th century. A place for a poetic mood.

Annecy

Located in the French Alps on Lake Annecy this town is quaint, charming and beautiful. It's small medieval section is laced with canals and flower covered bridges. I only spent 2 days here, but could have easily stayed for a week.
