do i need to book camp site
by finsp
We are going next week and have not booked a camped site.
We were going to cornwall, uk, but the weather is so bad we have changed our plans.
Does the tourist office in Annecy help find campsites?
We have our own tent and do not require electric.
Could we just look around once we are near the lake?
Its a bit late but any help grateful.
Thanks

Travel Tips for Annecy
Rue Sainte Claire
by Klod5
The sinuous tracing of the Rue Sainte-Claire marries the basis of the rock on which is seated the castle as if the inhabitants wanted to be better to snuggle up under the protection of this fortress. Edged of arcades to the irregular lines, this way, whose existence goes back to the very origins of the township of which it constituted the main axis, surprises us again nowadays, so much by its width that by the spacious measurements of ts ways under arcades.
Stuff for the outdoors

Bring good hiking shoes. There are some really beautiful hikes around here, and they can be very hilly! In the summer, don't forget your bathing suit. :) Sunscreen is ridiculously expensive in Annecy.
Lac de Annecy
by Goner
Lake Annecy is a pretty little lake with the magnificient Alps in the background. There are boat excursions available on the lake near the park.
The largest building you see in the distance across the lake is the towers of St. Bernard’s Castle nestled in a vast park. This medieval fortress was converted into a baronial residence for the Menthon family. The direct descendants of this family have occupied the castle since the 11th century and continue to do so today. It sits about 11 kms from the center of Annecy. You can find out more at Annecy’s tourist office.
Notre Dame de Liesse church
by iNorv9
This church was demolished during the Revolution, and was subsequently rebuilt in the neo-classical style in 1850. The interior features stained glass windows, ceiling paintings and a high altar with several sculptures. I was particularly impressed by the dome in atop the nave, which features several frescos and a little window that lets sunlight for a nice effect. There is also an obelisk fountain supported by turtles: the water cascades from the mouths of monumental lions into an octagonal basin set in a monolith of granite.
Bottom-line: If you're in the area, worth a quick visit
