Le Palais de l'isle
by Klod5
The Palais de l'isle stays the most typical monument : doesn't one pretend that him is the more photographed of France ?
By its triangular shape in the shape of prow it evokes a galley anchored in the river of which he/it splits waters tirelessly. First residence of the lord of Annecy since the XII ème century, he/it fills the role of hotel then administrative dice the installation in Annecy of the Count of Geneva.
Seat of justiceship, hotel of the Currencies, jail, it was vowed to the demolition at the end of the XIX ème century, but saved of exactness thanks to its ordering like Historic Monument. It shelters us days of the exhibitions.
skiing

so much choice around annecy to ski.
the biggest ski resorts around are La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand, and Megeve.
i ll strongly advise you if you are going to one of these when it s the ski season to leave early in the morning as the 3 ski resorts share the same road on the first 30.35 km from Annecy and you could end up being frustated in traffic.
ski resorts like La Marjoria are quieter but much smaller.
Eglise de St Maurice
by Kate-Me
L'eglise de St Maurice, consecrated in 1442, is well known for its rather macarbre 15th century mural of a decomposing corpse, found to the left of the altar.
It marks the tomb of Philibert de Monthoux, a one time annecy noble. The macabre mural was finished a whole 2 years before its patron’s death and is thought to reflect anxiety over the 100 years war.
Take a Boat Ride on Lac d' Annecy
by Goner
It's very enjoyable to take a boat ride on the lake. Just walk down to the lake from Thoiu Canal and you will see the boats there with signs telling you when they depart. They also have dinner cruises.
Lovely city and lake

"A nice city break in the Alps"
Annecy is a perfect getaway for city-dwellers in need of fresh air and a nice view, and is also a pleasant step on the way to or from the Alps.
Its crystal clear lake, old streets, arcades, canals, buildings and hills give it a lot of charm.
