A Most Charming French Town
by Goner
No one will forget their visit to Annecy. It is a one of most charming places I have ever visited. The town of Annecy is in Haute-Savoie France within the view of Mount Blanc, the highest peak in Europe. It's a very enjoyable 4-hour train ride from Paris. Annecy hugs Lac D'Annecy (lake) and has two canals that run into the town. The canals are lined with restaurants and there are flowers everywhere and you see swans glide through the water. There is a lovely park (Jardin de l'Europe) that lay between the two canals and from there the views of the lake and Mount Blanc are stunning. An evening here is spent eating at the small restaurants that line the canals and then watching street performers, who are the best I have ever seen. People stroll along the strand to watch the moon reflect in the water and sit under the trees in the park.

la "grolle" is an hot alcohol drink made of whisky with freshly squizzed oranges and lemons and is drunk from that funny looking pot which has a few holes. it s really warming after a day skiing, try it but careful it can be really strong .....eventhough my friend seems to enjoy it on this picture!!!!!!!!
Take a boat tour around Lake Annecy
by iNorv9
The second largest lake in France, Lake Annecy is also known as "Europe's cleanest lake". This should come as no surprise after seeing its sparkling blue water..... complimented by the surrounding mountains, Lake Annecy makes for quite a picturesque scene.
There are several walking paths and roads around Lake Annecy; otherwise, a boat tour is a great way to explore. In addition, by boat you'll be able to get some great views of the impressive chateaux that dot the shoreline.
Cost & Time: 10-15 euro for 1-2 hour itineraries.
Bottom-line: An excellent way to branch out of the city, as well as appreciate the crystal clear water and the notable environs of Lake Annecy.
Chateau d'Annecy: From castle to museum
by iNorv9
The Chateau d'Annecy has been a bastion on the hill since the 12th century. More recently, it was transformed into a Museum of Savoyard history and modern art. Despite its elevation, I wasn't able to find a window with much of a good view (not surprisingly considering this originally was a fortified castle). Also, in regards to the museum, there were some interesting historical items, but the majority of the displays were modern sculptures and paintings. Let's just say they were very unconventional.
Cost: 4.70 euro for adults; only 1.50 or students and kids.
Bottom-line: Nice to walk around the grounds, but if you're on a budget, the museum probably isn't worth it
French Venice...

Annecy is a picturesque and magnificent town with the Alps in the background and the lake in the foreground.
The town is the capital of the Haute-Savoie region of eastern France and well-known by tourists. Annecy hosts two annual film festivals: The film animation festival or "Le festival du film d'animation" in June and The Annecy Italien Film Festival or "Festival du film italien d'Annecy" in October
It is my most favourite town in France with its diversity of landscapes, unique architecture and particular ambience.
