The Alpina is 7 stories tall, and architecturally 70's Contemporary.
It is close to the walking part of downtown, and a short walk to the municipal pool (make sure you bring your speedo, American style swim suits are not allowed, you can rent a swimsuit if you like, but that gives me the creeps, my Girlfriend is giggling about the one I had to buy the last time I was here, can't wait to see if I get embaressed wearing it)
There is a hot tub and a sauna to use in the Hotel. If you want to exercize, they only had a few really cheap treadmill/starir stepper things, really not worth it, go run outside instead if there is not too much snow, or head to the municipal recreational building and pay for the exercize.
The Resturant at the top floor has great views, and the food is quite good, although included in the package we had, we still went out for a couple of meals, and it was worth the experience. Service was OK, but they could not understand why we, as a loose group, many of us did not know each other, did not sit at our "appointed tables". They did not explain what was expected and seemed frustrated at us at breakfast (till we finally understood somehow understood).
I'll add more to this after I go there agin with my group next week..
Great views in the resturant. Nice proximity to downtown walking area(on the edge). Centrally located.
