but where can I get the GPS track?...
Re: GPS waypoints

they have a button that will show you the route that you take after you put in the destination. Sometimes GPS will just show the shortest routes first and then you have to ad\just it to the way points you want to go to. Cheers Tommy x
Travel Tips for Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
Hiring Bikes in Chamonix
by jamieandrew
I live in Chamonix and you've got a couple of options available. There are three hire shops in town - Grand Bi, Legend and Zero G. Zero G is probably the one I'd recommend for mountain bikes; they are the most central and have a pretty decent Specialized bikes from this year. Their website is http://www.zerogchx.com.
Otherwise, you could consider bringing your own bike (if you have one!). Your local bike shop should give / sell you a cardboard bike box, and if you add enough packing and protection, the airline hopefully won't wreck it.
How not to get lost during a mountain hike
by Martinewezel
In one of my other tips, I wrote that it's convenious to have a hiking map. They are for sale at the Tourism Office (Visitors centre). However, if you prefer a cheop option, the read what's coming next...
On all major attractions, for instance at the places of departure and arrival of the tramways and the gondolas, where hikers generally start their hike, there are large map boards, mentioning "Vous êtes ici" (You are here) and showing the hike paths of the area.
When you take a photo of a part of this map, you can recall it on your camera screen, zooming and scrolling.
Of course, it's even easyer when you take photos of the real map on the forehand.
Very convenient when you need to take out reading glasses from your backpack each time you want to take a look at your map.
Water adventure
by Manara
Chamonix Aventures is a rafting station, but not only that. In fact with them you can do also hydrospeed and canyoning. They can provide also rafting and hydrospeed trips for absolute beginners and arrange activities for children.
Those who are interested in canyoning only can find experts at OXO CANYONING.
Priviledged British Hotspot
by firechick about Le Clubhouse
The Clubhouse opened in 2005 with much fanfare. They do not seem to get too busy but somehow are getting by year after year. It appeals to city based adults who want to come out to the mountains but stay in touch with their metro roots.
They are a private club but anyone can come in and buy drinks when they are not crowded (which is most nights). They are a sister bar to Milk & Honey in London and New York.
They do have an outstanding selection of scotches and wines, and if you have the money to burn this is the place to at least get what you are paying for. The bartender knows his stuff.
Unless they are having a special party or guest DJ the scene is laid back with large sofas and a nice warm fire. Free coffee and tea and often some snacks during apres ski time. Breakfast and dinner are also served here.
The Clubhouse also has a Bunkhouse, and the rooms come with 'adult toys' if you catch my drift. this is Chamonix for those who want to do it James Bond style . . . Casual apres ski wear to Ralph Lauren style smart.
Aiguille du Midi
by sandysmith
If you only have time to do one cable-car trip in Chamonix then I would reccommend the Aiguille du Midi one - although its a hard choice between this and the Mer de Glace funicular.
Although mentioned in general tips I'd like to show you more detail here. So hop on board the cable car in Chamonix at 1030m and ride high over the forest slopes up to Plan de l'Aiguille at 2317m
