Horrible and waste of time
We just got back EARLY from this hell hole of a hotel and place. We where meant to stay over xmas and new year, no chance we lasted 5 days and paid for an early flight home.
Food is luke warm and terrible, you get one ticket for each restaurant per week and the choice well there isnt one. The pizza place is the best you can choose from a few meals, the moroccan and chinese has ONE SET MENU,. tough if you dont like anything on it.
All the people want is tipping for anthing they do, the entertainment is rubbish and there is absolutely NOTHING to do in or out of the resort.
Drinks !! You can only get one at a time the other must be brought over you can guess how awkward this is when its busy waste of time being all inclusive.
Rooms !! Basic and the toilet system WILL wake you up if anyone within a 1 mile radius flushes their toilets, the water was off twice within the 5 days we where there and electricity for half a day, we changed rooms twice as one was next to a building site, the other on the floor right next to the main walkthrough so no privacy. The tv channels are not worth mentioning unless you want french channels. We only had a blurry CNN news. Loads of other people where moaning about this place from couples to families. By the way we settled for a room next to a landfill hole as it was a pain in the aris trying to get them to sort anything.
We have been to kenya and dont mind getting hassled (AS YOU WILL DO HERE NO MATTER WHEN OR WHERE YOU GO) its just boring for anyone and the people are not nice they just want money money money tips tips tips
MY TIP is DONT BOTHER WITH MOROCCO go to butlins in wales instead
NEVER BEEN HAPPIER TO GET TO THE UK (AFTER THEY HAD NICKED SOME FLIFLOPS AND DIESEL TRAINERS FROM OUR BAG)
Not bad at all.
What do people expect!!!! We spent Christmas and new year there and it was a lot better than i thought. A few people left early (christmas time) but this was more down to the dissapointing weather rather than anything else, funny really because after the moaners had left the weather changed and the last week upto new years day the weather was great, spent new years day on the beach, much better than -7 degrees in the UK. All in all this place is great value for families, its all inclusive and yes some of the food on the buffet service can be a bit luke warm, but its fresh and a decent variety, if you want five star food and accomodation dont pay for a three star holiday, be realisitic, a holiday is what you make it, its North Africa after all. The staff are v friendly, its clean, the facilities are great and we all had a great time.
As said on previous reviews do the Marrakesh trip and Essaouira (real morrocco).
The shop keepers outside of the complex are not that bad, a polite no thanks and keep walking and your fine. Its safe and everything is cheap, as for bartering its easy i would recommend knocking 2 thirds off if they say no walk away, they will call you back and if they dont go to the next shop and try again.
If your bored of Spain, Greece etc and want a worry free break thats good VFM then go here, if you want 10 drinks per person each time you go the bar and fillet steak and champagne dont.
great time had by all
what a great time we all had here staff are very freindly cant do enough for you animation team work very hard shows in amphitheratre well worth seeing .food not bad at all plenty of choice for any one chips included if thats what u want. rooms very basic our 2 rooms 2205 2203 were right outside by swimming pool hardly any walking to do. toilet a bit smelly at times take some air freshner with you tv worked a treat 2o channels keep your hand pressed on button to change channels. euros and sterling accepted anywhere we never changed into dinars didnt need to . friday morocan day all day long, good day had by all watch snake charmer he is a charmer (money money money) camel man very nice. no one pestered us when going to beach or into town just the odd one or 2 but they where no problem. forms visas a pain one to fill out on plane one at hotel and another one when you leave
My wife Eileen and I,her twin sister Elaine and John her husband to be have just had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Occidental Allegro from 15th to 22nd January. We were there to celebrate a special birthday for the twins and despite reading some quite negative reviews from previous visitors we were determined to have a good time - AND WE MOST CERTAINLY DID.Considering what we paid for this All Inclusive Holiday we were more than satisfied with our stay.Yes the rooms were quite basic, but the towels and sheets were changed daily.
The food was of a much higher standard than we expected - and we are not Macdonalds fanatics.
Not once did we eat anything that upset our stomachs, but as we always do on holiday we avoided ice in drinks. There was plenty of choice in the Oasis Restaurant and overall I would give a 7/10 rating. The Omelette man @ Breakfast time deserves a special mention. With regard to the Al-a-carte restaurants they were a disappointment - the pick of them was the Pizzeria ,which had more atmosphere than the others by a mile and Youseff the waiter in the Italian Restaurant was an absolute "star" throughout our holiday. All the Hotel staff were brilliant - very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.Overall in my opinion this was a "value for money" hotel with a good standard of food and facilities.
By the way - to experience some real Moroccon culture and to have a break from the day to day holiday life of an All Inclusive environment I would recommend a visit to Marakesh. We enjoyed a one night stay very close to the Medina square in the old town.We loved the bartering around the Souks. In the square it was fascinating to watch how the locals try to earn money in so many different ways.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EILEEN AND ELAINE - also known as "THE TWAMS" by the staff at The Occidental Allegro.
Me and my brother spent one week celebrating my birthday at the friendly Hotel Occidental Caribbean Village Agador,08/01/06-15/01/06.
The weather was great, the food was wide ranging and of a good standard. The staff were always helpfull but even more helpfull when a few dirams were given, the entertainment was ok.The accomadation was simple and alwys clean.
Agadir is a safe busy resort, police are seen at every street corner and on beach guggies all day long.I was amazed at how cheap food of every discription was including skewed camel, which I was not brave enough to try.The beech is clean but the hawkers can be a bit of a pain.
BEWARE the airport can be a nightmare.Your entry and exit card as to be spot on,take time filling it in correctly!
After having read many bad reviews about this hotel I was dreading the trip...however, this Holiday was our best yet.. Accomodation very basic, however the location of our room was brilliant, right outside were the beautiful gardens leading onto the swimming pool.. The staff in this hotel make your holiday, they are so friendly and the entertainment team deserve a gold medal...very entertaining..we laughed all week long. This hotel I think is better for families rather than young/old couples wanting a sophisticated holiday..Food was ok, snack bar was great and the pizzerie on an evening was ideal for your midnight snack..even though we had pretty naff weather, we still had a great time, and I would definately return if the price was right.
Disaster of a holiday
I visited this hotel with my husband over half term and it was horrible. The food was repeatitive, boring and cold. Do not even bother with the chinese restaurant - the food was so bad it was almost laughable. The rooms were grotty and in need of a lick of paint. The entertainment team work very hard but their shows are embarassing. We watched one guy miming to phantom of the opera not once but three times in the week we were there. If you are prepared to tip every time you ask for a drink at the pool bar you will get served quickly and with a smile, otherwise forget it. Also if you tip in the evening you might even be allowed a glass rather than a plastic beaker. If you are going to go to this hotel do not book with Thomson (although Ed the rep is a lovely guy and very efficient). All the Thomson guests were put in the front of the older hotel (its called the tamhlet) which is close to the road and very noisy. We had to be moved as I could not sleep for the first two nights. Guests with other holiday companies were put in the newer part of the hotel or around the pool area.
We are not snobs but this place was a very poor standard. The pools were not cleaned at all in the week we were there and you could see scum forming around the top of each pool. Basic hygiene is called for. Also most of the waiters (who do work very hard) had a b.o. problem.
Overall a great disappointment.
Great 3 star hotel
I had read many negative reviews about this hotel before travelling & was quite worried. I needn't have been. This hotel is a more than acceptable 3 star. The staff, location, food & drinks were great. Maybe we just dropped lucky, but our room was cleaned adequately everyday. In summary, this is a great value 3 star hotel that has something for everyone.
IT WAS THE BEST HOLIDAY EVER!
Going to morocco was my second holiday and it was the best it could ever have been. There was entertainment throughout the the whole day from when you wake up to when you go to sleep. The entertainment team and hotel staff were very welcoming from the minute we got off the coach and throughout the holiday. Everyone is complaining about the food but when your on holiday your having so much fun everyone forgets about food. There is a buffet style meal on all day even the pizza place late at night if you get hungry. For a poor country the hotel and food was excellent, they even give you a morocco style theme day to get you involved in their culture. Id definately go back to this hotel again. Every year. The animation teamkeep you active all day with: water polo, kids activities in the kids club, water competitions, tennis, volleyball. All going on while you can relax round the massive pool they have and uyou can even choose which pool you want, the relaxing one or the loud one with music making it more family like and fun for families. After that theres the little mini disco wer the team once again gets everyone up to enjoy and join in the fun. then its the adults turn and have a mixture of jazz, salsa waltz etc.. dances with the animation team. Then its still non stop with the evening permormance from the animation team yet again. Always a different performance every night getting the audience involved. And for the late nighters adults and teenagers theres a club that opens late at ngiht till early morning. Its great and id advise anyone to come here. For people who are complaining about this holiday your picking out the bad points and not even taking into consideration about the team who work all day to make it you best holiday you could ever have.
