La Verniaz et ses Chalets

Thollon les Memises is a ski resort/village, 10 minutes drive south of Evian. In the summer it becomes a haven for hikers (val-de-ree, val-de-raa!!) and mountain bikers. The cable car runs all through the summer up to the top of the Memises which rise 2000m above sea level. Information about walks - duration and level of difficulty - can be obtained from the tourist information office on the main street. Even a gentle stroll westward from the ski station will reward you with the most incredible views across Lac Leman to Switzerland, and the ski lodge restaurant is open for meals and drinks. As a ski resort it doesn't offer much for the advanced skier, but has about 50km of runs, mainly red and blue (no black).
