The location of the hotel is very convenient, as its on the center of the town, restaurants are a short walk away..
The hotel is a bit old and seems to be past its glory days, but my stay there is very pleasant, as rooms are big, and got good view of the town.
During my first night, its Sunday I was the only occupant on the whole floor, it was so aerie..(no, i didnt see a ghost).
What I love about it is the hospitality of the reception staff as well as the manager of the hotel. They ensure to really have the best got a pleasant stay at the hotel and in Ferney.
They serve a great buffet breakfast, different choice of pastries and breads..
This is a pretty nice hotel. I stayed in a two-floor apartment, which was more than decent and had the standard tv/fridge/sink etc. The apartment's lack of A/C was a big minus during the really hot Geneva nights (that was in June 2003). Other rooms in the complex may have air conditioning so check into it before you book. Photo credits: Geneva Hotel Discounts website.
Nice lobby and pool, relatively close to the city core (about 20 minutes by bus), quiet suburban location.
There are a number of hotels/motels in the Ferney-Voltaire region, about 4 km from Geneva airport or 8 km from the city centre. Some of the hotels do not have nearby public transportation, I personally recommend:
Hotel Stars, right after the Grand-Saconnex border
Rooms at ? 34 (single or double occupany) excl. breakfast
The price is certainly the main attraction, apart from the fact that it is situated in the suburbs of Geneva. The hotel is modern, but pretty basic. There is an Irish pub and several super markets in waling distance, plus an excellent - albeit fairly expensive - fish restaurant.
But Geneva is a mere 20 mins bus ride away. If you return to the hotel after midnight, try the night bus to Grand-Saconnex and walk the rest (about 30 mins) or take a (expensive) taxi.
