Ecrins Lodge: Great accomodation 4 Cycling & Summer activities
My family and I have just returned from a stay at the Ecrins Lodge to do some of the classic cycling found in the area. However on top of a completing our ambition of climbing the Alpe D'Huez, we were treated to a feast of other summer activities. The owners Will and Alex who own a Landrover took us on a breathtaking off-road trip to the glacier at 3200 metres at the top of the adjacent Deux Alpes ski resort. The following day they organized a hair-raising via ferrata where we spent 2.5hours climbing along a spectacular rafting river valley, secured by cables and climbing harnesses. In the evening we were spoiled even further by Will's (who is a qualified chef) cooking which exceeded all expectations. Following this, we were able to relax our aching limbs in our own private hot tub.
The Lodge has been recently renovated with en-suite shower rooms having been added to most of the bedrooms. On top of this they have broadband wireless internet and UK satellite television.
The Ecrins Lodge is also only 5 minutes from Les Deux Alpes ski lift system. We are definitely coming back this winter with a group of friends to try the skiing, which looks amazing!
We would really recommend the half-board option as Will's food is delicious. The other highlights were the private hot tub, which sits on a terrace with spectacular views along the valley and up to the mountains. We were also really impressed by the variety of activities on offer in this relatively unexplored area of the Alps.
