Bridesmaid dress
by Lizzypics
Hi, I am traveling to Lyon next week in search of a long dress, suitable to wear as a bridesmaid dress. I am not looking for a traditional style bridesmaid dress. I want something more current. The wedding is in one month, I have shopped in many other cities in Europe and have not found anything. I am really under pressure now, I must find something in Lyon.
Any advise, where to start? Please help.

I see you are looking for a long dress. In France this is considered appropriate for a braidsmaid only if the wedding takes place in the evening, and you will have to look for it in the evening-gowns' department.
In France the proper clothes for a braidsmaid consist of a sleevles dress and a coat of the same fabric, preferably silk or another smooth fabric like satin, and a hat. You are supposed to wear the coat during the ceremony, and you take it off at the party.
Travel Tips for Lyon
You must try 'salade...
by rubenship
You must try 'salade lyonnaise' and wandering around 'le vieux lyon' and seeking some narrow buildings called 'traboules' Visiting Annecy lake on a sunshinning Sunday, Alpes on the background, charming town, you should visit this village 30 km. from Lyon...
Swimming Pool
by barryg23
On our last day in Lyon, just before heading south to Nice, we found an outdoor public swimming pool along the riverside. On a hot summers day in Lyon, with an imminent six hour train journey, this was exactly what we needed.
I remember we started chatting to a guy from Corsica who, on hearing we were traveling around France, tried to convince us to visit his region. He had no English so it was a good way to practice our French too. Anyway, the pool cost 13 francs (it's all in Euros now of course) and it's located alongside one of the bridges.
A famous Paul Bocuse restaurant
by Fam_Stoica about Auberge du Pont de Collonges
Auberge du Pont de Collonges is an authentic three star Michelin restaurant, famous for the fabulous French cuisine.
The famous chef Paul Bocuse (he had won his Meilleur Ouvrier de France title in 1961) named his grandparents' old restaurant the Abbaye de Collonges in memory of the monks on the Ile-Barbe; the letters of the BOCUSE family name shine out today from the roof of the restaurant they have now been running for over 50 years. Specialities : soupe aux truffes noires (truffles soup), loup en croûte feuilletée (sea bass in puff pastry), filet de boeuf Périgourdine avec des pommes nouvelles (fillet of beef Périgourdine with freshness potatoes).
Quartier de la Croix-Rousse
by Pierre_Rouss
The tall, austere houses which are such a feature of the Croix-Rousse are the direct result of the popularisation of the Jacquard weaving loom, necessitating high roofs, in the early years of the 19th century. This was the stronghold of the canuts or silkworkers.

Opera De Lyon
by keeweechic
The Opera De Lyon was built in 1831 but all that remains of the original building are the four façades and the foyer. The interior was gutted, to be replaced by an 18-level building, i.e. twice the space of the previous structure.
