Best sight in Lyon

French gothic at it's best, says rui_bijie with her background in art history!
The church was erected in the 12th century in replacement of three churches whose vestiges can be seen in the archeological garden right next to St. Jean.
Hotel de Ville (Lyon Town Hall)
by Fam_Stoica
The Hotel de Ville (Lyon Town Hall) is a city landmark.
The building was erected by Simon Maupin between 1645-1651; in 1674, a fire partially destroyed it and Jules Hardouin-Mansart supervised its reconstruction.
It was here when the Marseillaise was sung for the first time, during the seat of the Revolutionary Court in 1792.
With its 65 bells, the Lyon Town Hall's carillon is one of the most important in Europe. The bells are played on Sunday evenings during the summer, and once a week the rest of the year.
A dream: To eat in Lyon
by seoulgirl
"On our way there, found some magic"
I picked a bed and breakfast that was en-route to Lyon so we didn't have to drive the whole way. We went a bit farther off the beaten path than expected and we were in the boonies! Nothing, no grocery stores for miles, 40 or so. We got there and the place was beautiful, a wonderfully restored 17 century farm house.
"Recommended restaurant"
Our hostess recommended a restaurant. It was fabulous
