TGV does not allow me to choose the airport station (Saint-Exupery) as my departing point when I try to fill in the form for online tickets. The choices I have are all departing from perrache or part dieu. How should I proceed at this point? Are all trains passing through all the stations? I am also given only departure times from the two stations above, not from the airport station..What would be the schedule for the airport station, in this case..Merci beaucoup pour les reponses...koray
I had no problem entering the airport station. But you have to use the correct name: "Lyon St Exupery"
I can see : Aéroport Lyon Saint Exupery - Gare TGV
clearly on

Possibly the TGV does not stop at Lyon St Exupery. That means you may need to get separate transportation from Lyon St Exupery to either Perrache or Part Dieu.
Lyon st. Exupery is a station where _only_ TGVs stop...
I should add that very few TGV stop at St-Exupéry, so it could be easier to catch one from Part-Dieu. The airport shuttle train takes 30 mn to this station.
Allow time for access from the airport (long walk), plus 5 mn from shuttle terminal. You can pick up your tickets at Part-Dieu.

Take the Dombes Lakes Route Tour (by car). Dombes is about 45 minutes drive north of Lyon. The area has thousands of little ponds used for crop, cattle and fish farming.
The local government developed two Dombes Lakes Loop Tours. One is 65-km long and goes from Villars-les-Dombes through Chalamont to Saint-Marcel; the other, 70-km, from Vilars-les-Dombest through Saint-Paul-de-Varax and Bouligneux. The drive is very easy simply follow the ‘Dombes Tour’ along the country roads. Along the tour, you would see feudal castle, villages, old church, ‘le Thou’ (see below), grazing cattle. The texture of the country houses is very intteresting. The courtyard in the villages are full of flowers (just like anywhere in France).
The creation of ponds of Dombes goes back to the 12th century. These ponds cover an area of 10,000 hectares. They are filled with water to raise fish or let dry to grow crops, in turns (the fish manure is the natural fertilizer for the crops). The majority of the ponds are filled by rainwater and small streams. The water in one pond is emptied into its adjacent pond before the fishing season, using a kind of ‘valve’ called ‘Le Thou’.
This was a surprise, between all of the sandwich shops in the commercial centre we found this great chinese place, the line was long, the food delicious and the price was even better. we (two of us) had the following :
rice, 2x shrimps nobashi, 2x nems vegetarian, 2x crevette rolls, 1x chicken curry, 1x calamars basil and a chicken brochette and paid 25euro.
Constructed between 1872 and 1896 in an eclectic style (austere on the outside and very richly decorated inside). The Basilica offers a wealth of mosaics, stained glass windows and marbles.
You can admire the panoramic view from all along the esplanade.
That pencil looking building is the Le Meridien Hotel. I considered staying there but changed my mind when I realized that it is in the business district. There wouldn't be much activity at night and it was too far from Vieux Lyon.
