Wine tours.
by Dizzyhead
Around Lyon you have many wineyards and also companies which sells guided tours to the wineyards. If you want to do one of these trips, which I did not have time and I was there during the wrong season. Go to the tourist office and get more information what kind of wine tours they can offer for you, and you see if you like them.
Italian food in France?
by OrlandoBR about Pizza Pino
Lyon is another major gastronomic center in France, not so far behind Paris. With my budget and my time, I was happy with just Pizza Pino, which is a pretty good Italian chain, not just for pizza, that I knew from Paris.
Notre – Dame Basilica – Interior
by aliante1981
The interior of the basilica of Notre-Dame is no less impressive and luxurious than the exterior one sees. In fact, if possible, it’s even more so. So, if you had any doubts that Lyon was a prosperous city, the mere sight of the interior of the basilica should get you ride of them forever:))) Why? Not for nothing! Simply because from floor to ceiling, you can find gilded decorations everywhere in this basilica. Yes, folks, pure gold! One of the most lavishly decorated churches I ever saw, too.
It somewhat reminded me of my homeland – Russia. A lot of gold, too, and paintings. Of all Russian churches, the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow comes in mind as the closest comparison.

PLACE BELLECOUR is the heart of Lyon. This open square is where folks go to take a stroll, meet up with friends, or -for visitors- get information from tourist bureau. In the surroundings you have shops, restaurants, bookstores, etc.
Lyon, city of lights
by Bigjones
For Christmas 2004, Pascal and I were lucky to spend our holiday at his parents' place in the region of Lyon. Lyon is a very charming city that was declared a Unesco world heritage (and is probably a world heritage of gastronomy too ;-) It's really fantastic with its two famous rivers (the Rhone and the Soane), its passageways and little cobbled streets, its painted walls, its lights, its hills, its restaurants called "bouchons", etc. But even if I love that city a lot, our plan was to spend only a few days there and then head to Venise in Italy and to Vienna in Austria (by car). But due to the relatively bad climatic conditions and lack of time (only one week), we soon had to change our mind. But as you'll see, we found a pleasant and funny alternative as we finally saw Venise and Vienne .... just not where we thought !
"First step : Venise in Lyon ;-)"
We found Venise in the St-Jean street in Lyon .... well, may be not so romantic I agree ;-))
"Second step : Vienne ..."
Well, we also found Vienne not so far from there ... but I don't think the inhabitants also dance the waltz there ...
As you can see, the camera was a bit far, my boyfriend had not enough time to be on the picture with me this time ;-)
