Personal opinions needed

by jiminy8323

Hi everyone,
I'm planning a trip to Lyon and was just wondering if anyone could give me their personal opinions about the following tourist attractions:

·Parc de la Tete d'Or
·River Saone Cruises
·Fourviere Basilica
·Musees des tissus
·Saint Jean Cathedral

I've done some research on each of these such as visiting websites etc.
Just wanting some personal opinions of the attractions.

Merci!

P.S. I was also wondering if anyone could tel me about the quality of these two restaurants and the Park & Suite Part Dieu hotel.
MOMMESSIN RESTAURANT ET VINS
LE CANUT ET LES GONES
They look nice on the site but again i'd like some first-hand experiences.

Thanks again.

I liked Musee des tissus. It's a long time ago but I remember admiring the very old embroidered clothes on display (old being centuries old).

On VT there are a few reviews on the Meridien Part Dieu hotel:

Email the people that were there and ask them!

Also search for good restaurants at www.viamichelin.com. Put in Lyon at the top and click the Michelin Restaurant option.

We enjoyed the Parc Tete d'Or. My daughters could have spent hours just with the deer. The plant displays are excellent. We also thought the Musee de Resistance was very good. As for food, Lyon is number 1 in my book for food. We thought La Splendide was so good that we went back a second night. You may try chowhound.com for restaurant reviews on the two specific. One never knows..

I enjoyed 2 restaurants while I was there. I see that the reviews on Brasserie Georges are still glowing. Just don't drink too much 'pot' Beaujolais! (that's 0,46 litre in a tall thin bottle, typical of Lyon).

Travel Tips for Lyon

Herboristerie

by Klod5

On the place St-Jean, before the cathedral of the same name, don't miss to be going to see the Herboristerie. It is one of the rare surviving of France, where they have all practically extinct.
Indeed, diploma is not prepared more since numerous years and the profession is in way of disappearance with the progression of the graduate herbalist deaths. It is, again a faith, the result of a distressing law, dictated by the lobby pharmaceuticals, for bigger profits.

This store remained like at the end of the last century, extraordinary...

Train was definitely my choice, with great connections (many of them TGVs) to other French cities (Avignon, Paris are just two of those) and to Geneva, in Switzerland. There's an airport as well, and a good road network.

A visit to Annecy is not complete if one does not walk the narrow streets and cross the bridges over the canal. Here we found the best way to enjoy 'eating out' - buy a loaf filled with mouth-watering ingredients and do not forget to ask for melted cheese to be included. Then go eat on the grass in the nearby park.

Nuits Sonores

Fantastic festival for electronic music, taking place in May every year. I've been there twice and it was awesome. The locations are also interesting. If you love electronic music and the culture that surrounds it, don't miss this!

Lyon

"Weekend trip"

After having spent many an evening, and an occasional morning jog, in Lyon for work, I finally managed to stay over for a weekend. My wife met me for a day in Lyon and a day in the medievel town of Perouges. While the weather did not cooperate, with rain the entire time, we did enjoy exploring the city from under an umbrella or during brief gaps in the rain.
