Need help in Hawaii

by loriphillips

What is best way to get train ticket from Paris to Lyon from Paris airport?

Re: Need help in Hawaii

by Roadquill

Check the SNFC site. There are high speed trains from CDG that go to Lyon, and also from Paris leaving the Gare de Lyon station. Depending on your need you may want to order a travel pass for the number of travel days you are going, then all you need to do is make the reservations. It seemed like the train between CDG / Paris and Lyon was fairly popular as we could not change our reservations to an earlier train on the same day. We could have had we booked the day before.

Travel Tips for Lyon

La Croix Rousse

by Klod5

Lyon Satolas

Flying is the way to get there the quickest from everywhere outside of Europe. I'm sorry to say that delta recently discontinued the direct flight from JFK to Lyon. In Europe, get a Eurailpass and take the train. Lyon has good mass transit downtown, but the airport is quite a ways away from central Lyon. Therefore, it would be smarter and cheaper if you have to take a taxi to share the fare and the ride with a bunch of other people if you don't have a friend or colleague from there to pick you up.

Get Lost

by rcsparty

Vieux Lyon is a great place to get yourself lost and just wander the streets. It is bounded by the Saone and Fourviere Hill, and is full of history and character. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to stop for a quick rest. It is also full of stops and of the covered passageways, which are also very interesting.

Famous Persons of Lyon in the 19C (On A Wall)

by hquittner

At the junction of the quai St. Vincent (number 49) and rue Martiniere is an apartment block whose facade is covered with a fresco of famous people of Lyon from the 19C. Among them are the Lumiere brothers (lower right, number 1 picture) the first creators of moving pictures and others placed in the building seen in others views (example Ampere). On many other streets there are other scenes of the city.

THE curiosity of the old city, these are the Traboules, maze of alleys that crosses the buildings, once borrowed by the canuts, to transport silk
