Tickets to see Olympique Lyonnais

by elise_crash

Hello!

My husband and I always try to watch a local soccer game when we travel, and I see there is a game on Semptember 12 against FC Lorient while we are in Lyon. I can see the website in English, but not the section about getting tickets.

I am trying to find out what the prices are and what is the best way to buy tickets. Should we get them ahead of time online? Or, should we wait until we get to the city (which is what we usually do)? We will arrive on September 10, and the game is only two days later. If we wait until we get to the city, what is the best place to get match tickets?

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Lisa

Hi ,
The OL don't seem to have tickets on sale for that match yet or don't have any at all. The only thing I found was www.ticketunimited.com that has (how?) tickets at 75 euros behind the goal or 105 euros along the sides. The site is in English if you want to have a look.

Hi again,
obviously that should be www.ticketunlimited.com

Sorry.

I am in France at the moment. Please be aware that the football fixture schedule will almost certainly be changed for TV purposes about 2 weeks before the alleged date and time. Usually, two matches are moved to Sunday afternoon/evening for live TV transmission and you should check nearer the time for the details.

Thank you all for the info. So, do you think we should just wait until we arrive in Lyon to buy the tickets? Do they usually sell out?

As it is Lorient, probably will not sell out, but, and it's a big but What is the price on the 'net today compared with the price you might get at the gate come Sept. 12th ?

Hi Lisa,
Nice to see that your trip to Lyon is coming soon!
I'm a OL fan and note that our Gerland stadium got the french highest occupancy rate last 7 years, among the top clubs. Most of the games at home are sold out, not only for Marseille , Bordeaux or Paris. usually one can get the tickets on OL website (english page here): http://www.olweb.fr/en/Accueil/0/Accueil
unfortunately the ticketing page switches to french only.
You will be able to get the tickets from the end of august (each coming 2 home matches are on sale through internet). Then, they are 2 OL stores in town (one in presqu'ile, rue de Jussieu, close to famous Rue de la Republique, the other one, right at the stadium , where you can buy tickets till the D Day (if still available).
hope this helps
cheers
Jean Philippe

Travel Tips for Lyon

Visit the Basilique de...

by mignonne

Visit the Basilique de Fourvière!

Constructed between 1872 and 1896, this building is remarkably beautiful. The scuptures in the exterier is really fine, and the interier is decorated with marble statues and stained glass. From the Basilique you can get a great view of the city of Lyon.

To get there, you can take the metro and get down at the stop: Fourvière. It is possible to get there by feet from the centre ville of Lyon, Bellecour, cross the bridge and you'll reach Vieux Lyon...as the basilique is located on the hill, we have a climb abit...abit of exercise is good!:-D

b1bob's Lyon shopping tip nº6

by b1bob about B.H.V.

B.H.V. is rather like a French Home Depot or Lowe's. Housewares, furnishings, and all manner of do-it-yourself items can be found here. Luc was looking for an artificial Christmas tree to adorn the flat, some ornaments, lights, and a star. The first 3 were no problem, we found them here. The star was another ballgame (we a sorry looking star at the Carrefour at the other end of the mall). Luc went home and he set up the artificial Christmas tree. Because I'm very clumsy in terms of decorating and my taste is questionable to some, I don't help set up the Christmas tree even at home. The lights Luc bought turned out to blink. Baby Florian sure enough liked them, but they drove me crazy. It's a good thing Florian isn't epileptic! Reasonable prices.

Rhône and the Saône

by dejavu2gb

Lyon is blessed with 2 lovely rivers running through it the Rhône and the Saône.

One of my recommendations is having a walk next to the river, and see the beautiful buildings around you, and stopping off at one of the many cafes for a beverage.

St Jean

by rcsparty

This gothic cathedral was constructed in the 1100-1300's. It includes an Astronomical clock from the 16th century, which makes a visit worthwhile in itself, and some beautiful stained glass windows. From a pure appreciation of history and old architecture, this is definately a church to see, but if you've seen plenty of other gothic churches throughout Europe, you won't see anything unique about the church itself.

The Large Fine Arts Gallery (Musee des Beaux-Arts)

by hquittner

The museum occupies the entire south side of the Pl. des Terreaux., originally known as the Palais St.-Pierre, whose center is an extensive garden surrounded by the cloister of the Abbey of St. Peter containing the sections of the museum. In the green space are several statues and pools. Near the center is Rodin's Adam (or L'ombre) and nearby is Democritus by Delhomme and other statues. Inside, the main stairs lead up to several works by Puvis de Chavannes, while pride of place is an Ascension by Perugino, a gift from Pope Pius VII.
