Lyon-Bron Airport to City Center
by Hcallan
Hello!
How can one get from Lyon-Bron Airport to Lyon? I prefer not to have to pay to take a taxi. Is it possible to ride public transportation into the city?
Thank you in advance for any answers!
Happy Travels!

Apparently there are shuttle buses to Eurexpo only, at least if there is a show on, and from Eurexpo there are buses to the city centre run by Satobus, see http://www.eurexpo.com/2004/en/pages/infos_pratiques/

Hi from Lyon!
I can confirm you NO regular shuttle bus from Bron Airport to downtown..this airport is only for air taxis and private aircraft, so no regular flight there..if you do not want to hire a taxi, only hitch-hiking can make it! ;-)
that said, airport is really only 5 kilometers from Bron downtown where you can either take the bus or tram to downtown lyon.
public transport Lyon web page is there:

During the Great French revolution Lyons became "the released commune". Today Lyons - the modern industrial city actively participating in the European construction. Lyon's train & bus stations
by Natrix
There's 2 train stations in Lyon, Part-Dieu and Perrache. Perrache is rather for regional trains. It's also the major Eurolines bus station. Careful, before entering a train you need to stamp your ticket, otherwise you can get into big trouble.
Snowboarding in Les Deux Alps
by Del.
Snowboarding is great fun, although it can be pretty difficult! Be prepared for bruises and lots of them. Some people take to it like a duck to water but for me it was more a case of Bamby on ice. Constantly falling over, crashing into people, tumbling down the mountain. This all adds to the excitment and makes a great holiday. From the top of the mountain there are amazing views of the town and also of the mountains.
Fête des Lumières (Festival of light)
by Natrix
The most famous annual public event in Lyon is the "Fête des Lumières" (festival of lights). Traditionally the Lyonnais put candles into their windows on December 8th. This tradition has it's origins in 1852, when the inauguration of a statue of Mary was almost prevented by a flood of the Saone river and a storm, but finally got to take place due to a sudden change of weather. As this was regarded as the work of Mary, many Lyonnais spontaneously put candles into their windows to thank her and to celebrate the event. This tradition is still practiced and the city of Lyon decided a few years ago to make a big event of 4 days, all about lighting, out of it, with the theme changing every year. Beware though: the city can get extremely crowded during the festival (3 million visitors last year!).
Just a morsel of Lyon
by Manara
My first visit to Lyon has been so short I cannot seriously write about it.
It was barely enough to make me wish to go back again for a proper visit.
I just had the time to go uphill, to the Basilique de Notre Dame de Fourvières, have a quick look inside the Basilique and admire the beautiful view of the city, its rivers, the roofs of the old town.
Then downhill again, for a delicious lunch in the Place des Célestins.
