Train from Lyon

by zitaf

Is there a train from Lyon to Paris airport (CDG)?
Or can you rell me how I can do this.

Re: Train from Lyon

by alza

Hi zitaf,
The TGV (fast train) links Lyon-Part Dieu train station (there are other train stations in Lyon) to Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport Terminal 2.
Go to the SNCF internet site (SNCF = trains in France) and type your departure point and desired destination and you'll get list of prices.
I typed in a request for 15 July and there was an offer for 1st Class travel fm Lyon to Paris-CDG 2 for 30 Euros, only a few tickets left available. (This is only to give you an idea of many options available.)

As far as I know, all SNCF trains linking to CDG Airport take you to Terminal 2 in CDG. But you must check out their site and choose the train that suits you.

I hope that helps you. Perhaps another VTer who knows that route can further advise. All the best!

www.voyages-sncf.com is the SNCF website. If possible, do not use the English version as you will be re-directed to Raileurope, which is a ticket agency and may not have the same fares available.

Travel Tips for Lyon

Euro 2000

by barryg23

The Euro 2000 soccer tournament had just started when we arrived in Lyon. I remember watching France vs Czech Republic at the town hall in Lyon and I think France won 2-1. If you have eyes like a hawk you can see Thierry Henry scoring for france :)

Most towns in France showed the games on a big screen at their town halls and it was a great way to meet people and follow the soccer. Susan wasn't a big fan of the footy so I had to think of creative ways of being in the town hall area when the games were being shown and hoping she'd take the hint!

Please, please, visit Perouges...

by rubenship

Please, please, visit Perouges in the dusk; 20 km. from Lyon. These medieval small village remains as in the XVI century.
And you would find nice menus (including frogs which are the speciality) in 'Auberge du Coq'.

A fine restaurant at Hotel Royal

by Fam_Stoica about Le Petit Prince

Le Petit Prince at Hotel Royal is famous for exquisite cooking and exotic cocktails.

The restaurant has a superb decorated function room with large French fresco and is suitable for business meetings.

Visit the big park at the Vieux Lyon. I can't remember the name of the
park! It's a very big park and it seems like it has been ruined but it is still
so beautiful.

Visit The Interior of the Basilica of St. Martin's

by hquittner

The nave of St. Martin's is separated from the lateral aisles by heavy round pillars that date from Roman times. At the east end are central and lateral apses with altars. The end of the center is covered by a half-dome with a fresco and over the crossing at the start of the nave is another fresco.
