One of the worst places we could have chosen!

On the internet and from the outside the hotel doesn't look too bad. It is meant to be a 3 star hotel. Even when you go in the reception doesn't give any indication of just how horrible this hotel is!

We had 2 connecting rooms because they don't have any "family" rooms per say.

The rooms were filthy, dark, drab in dire need of decorating. The mini bar had been ripped out of both rooms.

The hotel itself is not in a particularly nice area in Lyon so we had a choice to either be out when it was dark (which didn't feel totally safe - lots of dumped cars etc...) or we could sit in the thoroughly dpressing, dirty room(s).... and when I say dirty I mean dirty - I instructed the kids not to remove socks etc....

The upside of the hotel was that it was very close to the metro which, if you had the correct change, was very user friendly. Also the hotel was in easy reach of the Minimes funicular.

The next morning we left feeling really "heavy".

Personally I would never go back to this hotel and I certainly would NOT recommend it either. However, if you are considering booking into this hotel I would suggest looking for a more recent comment on it as we were there in 2005 and it is possible it may have improved - although I cannot see that the overall area around it has!

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel for one night, preferably near to the train station? We'll have a car on arrival, which we'll need to drop off and continue on with the train. Thanks.
