Slate Valley Morzine
My Partner and I will be spending five weeks beginning May 14, 2006 in Morzine.We will have rented a car in Paris and driven to Morzine where we have reserved an apartment. Are there any gay establishments in and around the area such as restaurants, clubs, etc.?
I don't know Morzine very well and have only been there a few times but don't know of any. That time of year by the way is 'low season' (after skiing closes) so most bars are quiet anyhow and many restaurants are in fact closed for the owner's holiday. There is a bar in Chamonix supposedly gay friendly called Le Tof, in Chamonix Sud. It is about 1 hour from Morzine. Or go into nearby Taningnes, Cluses or Sallanches (I don't know of any specific places but they are bigger towns so should have more going on at that time of year).
Tuesday night is the night that chalet-maids get their night off. Hence a lot of the chalets occupants will head into town to find some food. Whilst its OK to turn up 'on-spec' any other day of the week, it's definitely worth booking on a Tuesday. When we left the Auberge there was a queue right out the door for a table!
Paragliding from mountaintop!!! Only for the dare devils: jump off the top of a mountain and glide down to a village beneath. At Morzine/Avoriaz region, I saw many paragliders and it looks like such great fun.
