Close to Port Roanne

During the course of a 2008 road trip/canal cruise we spent three nights in Roanne at the Campanile. We often choose to stay in this chain. They are usually located close to the motorway exit and well signposted and in the case of Roanne close to the small boat port where we had some boating tasks to perform.
Standard of accommodation is not four star but it is of known quality much the same as medium standard Australian motel chains. The price (€60 per room: cheaper at weekends) is about what we budget for.
Coffee& tea making facilities are provided (but no fridge).
There is a Restaurant on site.
Beds are comfortable. Heating (it was April) worked very well. Plenty of secure car parking close to the room (unlike more "romantic" hotels in the CBD)

Unique Quality: We noted on this trip that the standard of meals available in Campanile seems to have improved during the last couple of years. I wonder if they have "outsourced" the catering to a company with expertise in that area. Meals are only as good as the chef running the kitchen. Roanne is lucky to have the one who cooked our meals. Our average food/wine bill for 2 was €48 for diner and €16 for breakfast (& before you ask - no we did not have wine for breakfast).
