The staff have got to be the next best thing after the fabulous location. They really do appear from nowhere and melt away again, but there's no subservience, just helpfulness and friendliness. "Service with a smile" isn't easy to find in France so it was a really nice surprise.
The hotel restaurant richly deserves its Michelin star. Again, the staff were helpful and knowledgeable and the food was of the quality you would expect.
I suppose the furnishings are getting a bit tatty, maybe time for a makeover soon. Our main grouse, though, on a dull afternoon, was that there wasn't much to do if sunbathing was out. The billiard table is no longer in use, there's no table tennis, pétanque etc. Being on a very small island, 10 minutes will take you around it. Still, looking out over the pool, lake and sea from the balcony was restfull.
Unique Quality: You can't beat telling friends you stayed on a private island! The pool was very warm - shame we had a flash storm the afternoon we were there! The view of the pool and the sea from our balcony was just like in the photos - no cheating there. The dinner was a truly gourmet experience. And of course, there are those outstanding employees!
