Hotel Village Montana - a lovely place

We have been skiing all over the world and normally go B & B so that we can sample the local restaurants, but this year we were able to get a good deal on half board with Ski Direct.

Best choice ever! The hotel was GREAT! Really comfortable and well placed in the resort so easy to ski to and from. The staff were extremely professional and very friendly and the rooms spacious, all with a balcony and mountain views. For a family the outdoor pool is lovely and the slopes are right beside the hotel for those evening bum board and toboggan races. AND THE FOOD!!!! Every night there is a fantastic 5-course meal with choices for main meal and starters, and only 32 Euros! You can also go to the yummy traditional fondue/raclette restaurant down stairs (included in the price), and there is an a la carte restaurant too where you pay extra and they deduct your dinner allowance, though to be honest we never went to it as the food in the other 2 restaurants was SO GOOD!

My sister was in the same resort with her husband and 2 kids in a pokey chalet with 24 other people and a chalet maid who cooked one meal a night (no options) and no facilities 1/2 mile from the town centre, they went out for a fondue which was more expensive than our hotel and they found disappointing, and they were gutted when we worked out that for pretty much the same cost they could have stayed at our hotel.

With regards to the resort we found the skiing excellent for intermediate and experts with a huge ski area, OK for beginners, disappointing on après ski and limited on general restaurants.

We always like to try different resorts, if I could have put this hotel in my suitcase to take with us on our next holiday I would have!

Relaxion after a hard day on the slopes

by Sam_Hall

Im sure that anyone that has ever hit the slopes, be it on skis or on a board, can agree with me when i say you end up aching.

I could barely move my arms and shoulders after the countless hours of trying to get up on my heel edge from the floor. You get to the stage when all you want is that nice relaxing bath, the problem is not very many places in the Alps have baths and i was staying where there was only showers.

After a lot of complaing and a trip down the Maison de Tignes, i was given a brochure for Village Montana. Basically, its a hotel five mins walk from from where i was.

After looking at the brochure we all decided we were going to go and have a look.

For 20 Euros, you got the use of the Sauna, Steam Room, Outdoor Heated Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi amd the Hot and cold Showers. Excelent we thought, it doesnt close till eight at night, the problem came when we realised we had no swimming gear. But believe it or not they had spare ones which they hired for 5 euros a piece. They are not the nicest looking or best fitting but they soon get forgotten when al your aches and pains are washed away.

They do a range of other treatments including masage and other beauty treatments but these have to be paid for seperately.

Im going to Tignes again in April and im definately taking my bikini with me this time!!
