Just down the road from the Hbf.....
The Hotel National is to my way of thinking, austere. It is very severe in its decor although it is very tastefully furnished. The reception staff are extremely helpful, courteous and efficient. My single room was a good size with a very "normal" sized bathroom. The room was extremely clean and tidy and I had no trouble at all getting extra pillows when I requested them. Breakfast was an excellent buffet and was included in the cost. My single cost 65 euro per night.
Unique Quality: The location of the Hotel National is a big selling point. It is about 300 metres straight down the road from the Hbf and there are a number of little shops around to buy water and other necessities (just not on Sundays). It was also very convenient having a restaurant in the hotel as I was fighting off a head cold at the time and didn't really feel like venturing out too far after a long day of sightseeing. I would certainly stay there again.
There is a casino right next door for those who are interested.
