Considering the Zum Kleinem Ringlein in Bamberg?

Worth the climb: Michaelskirche on Michaelsberg by estargrl88
Climbing up to the Michaelskirche was perhaps my favorite part of my visit to Bamberg. After arriving by the Dom, the Residenz, etc., I continued up the street and went along a few others to arrive at this church. The walk itself is great because it's in a residential area so you get to see these wonderful old houses. I really wanted to just take a detour and explore the neighborhood which was very peaceful since it was a Sunday. The church itself was one of my favorites that I've seen in Germany. It may not have the significance of the Dom; however, I really liked the atmosphere which has a combination of simplicity and grandeur. There are lots of interesting stone memorial carvings along the side aisles as well as some fancy gold work and the ceiling is covered in paintings of plants. There is a room of graves with a huge ornamented art piece. To the side of the church there is a garden where one can walk and overlook the city. This view is interesting because it gives you a look at both the old and new parts of Bamberg!
