Parade
by german_eagle
When we strolled through the town we happened to see some schoolkids who did a rehearsal for the upcoming parade next week.
I cannot tell you what a parade this was, sorry, but it was in July or August and probably a big event.
The played several instruments, sang and marched along the streets. Very nice.
Little Venice
by richiecdisc
Not only is Bamberg blessed with an abundance of beautiful architecture but it is also scenically set on a lovely river. This one stretch is dubbed Little Venice and though it bears little resemblence to its namesake, it is nonetheless a pretty place to get off the beaten path.
Mahr's Brau
by bonio about Mahr's Brau
Yet another brewery, this one just a little way out of town in Wunderburg. On a sunny day walk along the canal banks for ten minutes or so and it's next to a church.
Inside very old and atmospheric, beer comes from a wooden barrel behind the bar. Outside is a lovely courtyard for fine weather.
Yet another great place to visit.

This beautiful monument of today was founded on St. Micheal's Mount by Emperor Henry II in 1017 AD, under the guidance of Pope John XVIII. After Pope Benedict VIII visit to Bamberg in 1070, Bamberg became the centre of Holy Roman Empire. The bodies of Emperor Henry II and his queen Cungunde are buried here.
From mid 13 centuary onwards, Bishop Of Bamberg became ruler of Bamberg and the construction of the convent was supervised by him. By 1260 AD, lot of land was acquired and the construction of the old convent was completed. Later years the buildings was renovated and restored. Even today, it stands as a wonderful piece of architecture.
