Hotel Malerwinkel Seebruck: Romantic getaway
This 3*sup hotel is a good place for a romantic getaway. Good food, nice rooms and the location directly at the lake. Nice terrasse and walking paths.
For infos on yachting and sailing in Seebruck, check out the homepage Seebruck
Unique Quality: The location at the lake - with it's own landing stage.

Seehotel zur Linde: Stay because of the breakfast ;-)
The hotel is located on the island FRAUENINSEL. It is very recommendable to stay there overnight, as you can make excursions departing from the island. The hotel is nice, clean, the employees very friendly and the best of all: the food they serve.
For me, a stay of 2 nights was more than enough, as the island is very small and you have seen it basically in an hour. But if you spend one day visiting the Herreninsel (the castle Herrenchiemsee) and make a little boat tour around the Chiemsee, two nights will be fine to relax a bit and enjoy the island life. I imagine high season will be stressful as thousands of tourists go there.
Unique Quality: The breakfast buffet is phantastic! Different sorts of fresh bread, croissants, joghurt, cereals, eggs, ham, cheese, well anything you want to find at a breakfast buffet, BUT, the quality is superb. Fresh, tasty and very good.
Also, for dinner, try the fish-soup, especially on a cold day, (half a portion will be enough, like any dish in Bavarian restaurants ;-)) or the Kalbfleischbällchen mit Spätzle (dumblings made of veal with the typical Spätzle-pasta).

Gabrielhof: Beautiful farm near Chiemsee
Gabrielhof is a working farm in a small village 4 km north of Seebruck, on lake Chiemsee. The farmhouse has window boxes full of flowers; inside there are several guest rooms. We had a small room furnished with bunk beds, table and armoire, a larger room with a double bed, table and larger armoire, and private bath and toilet. Breakfast featured jams made on the farm and honey from a nearby farm.
The hostess and her family are warm and welcoming. Since we travelled by train, they picked us up at the nearest train station and then took us back to the station at the end of our stay. They also took us into Seebruck so we could catch the bus to go to the Salt Mine Tour, and then the next day took us to Prien so we could ride the ferry to the islands in Chiemsee, picking us up at the Seebruck ferry stop.
The hostess and her family speak very limited English. This farm seems to be popular with German families for vacations.
Unique Quality: This is a working dairy farm, complete with cows, chickens, ducks and cats, and their noises and smells. Twin calves were born while we were there, and there were also month-old kittens. There is a trampoline and bicycles are free of charge for guests. A well-marked bike path goes right by the farm. There are fruit trees and grape vines all around.
This is a wonderful, quiet, welcoming place, especially suitable for families. It's close to all the sights in the Chiemsee area and Berchtesgaden.
Gabrielhof is a registered vacation farm in Bavaria. You can see it on the Bavarian farm vacation listing "Urlaub auf dem Bauernhof in Bayern."
