Inside the Wall and Outside the Wall Walk Tour
by Roadquill
The City's tourist office will provide you for a small fee with an inexpensive map that has a tour with explanations of the various buildings on the inside of the walls as well as an outside the walls tour. Either way, the buildings and views are very picturesque.
Bauerlin Tower
by codrutz
The thing I like most about towers in a medieval city, beside the fact that they are great and old structures, is that they are designed to differentiate between them. This is the Bauerlin Tower, with its unique shaped roof, built in 16th century and named after the tower guard and tanner Hans Bauerlin.
Dinkelsbuehl - a smaller and quieter Rothenburg
by codrutz
I guess the VT member Leipzig adviced me to visit Dinkelsbuehl, and not only Rothenburg ob der Tauber while on the Romantische Strasse. Indeed, Dinkelsbuehl is a smaller medieval fortress city, like Rothenburg, with its walls and towers still intact and with lovely houses. Dinkelsbuehl is more quiet and less touristic, so you can enjoy your own private walk, follow and read about each tower and historic houses and taste the same german cuisine here like in its bigger sister city.
