This was good accommodation. The location was fairly good as we walked most days into the city centre. The surrounding graffiti is off putting but that is all over Frankfurt. The food was adequate at best. It is typical of all such hotels the world over. If you have stayed in one you have stayed in them all but they do offer good value for money.
You know what you are getting at a Novotel. Eat out as it is cheaper and superior. A good travelling base.
Pension Backer was very clean, lovely big feather doonas on the bed and only 60DM per night, the tariff included a double room and breakfast, but you had to pay extra for a hot shower (cold was free).
The G Hotel in Frankfurt was a nice establishment. The staff were nice, friendly, and were accommodating in speaking English when we needed. The room was clean and had the amenities we required. It was by no means a luxury hotel, but it was not spartan either. I would definitely stay there again. We paid $108 for one night.
Only one tip, confirm that you have a room with a double/full/queen sized bed. We thought we had reserved a double, but the bed was a tad on the narrow side. It was somewhere between a twin and a queen...luckily it was cold and we wanted to snuggle anyway. :)
Really nice youth hostel with rooms suitable for any number of people. Good price, clean and confortable. Pool table, bar, giant chess outdoors... Well situated. Nice place to meet other travellers.
