The architecture of the railway station is in a way typical for Fürth. The fountain in front of it, with the centaur motif, reminds me of the centaur fountain in Altona, which originally also stood in front of the railway station.

Birth place of Johann Georg Ritter von Schuh

In this house (Johann) Georg Ritter von Schuh was born on November 17, 1846 († July 2, 1918 in Starnberg). He was teacher and lawyer, and from 1881 to 1892 Mayor of the City of Erlangen, from 1892 to 1913 Governing Mayor of Nürnberg and from 1889 to 1893 liberal Member of Bavarian Parliament.
As a son of a weaver, he grew up in poor circumstances and should become wood blunder. Due to his abilities at school, he was given a training to become elementary teacher, but he didn't practice this job for a long time. After high-school diploma he studied jurisprudence in Munich and Berlin. He recieved his Doctor's Degree in Gießen in 1874, before he made legal state examination in 1875.
He was considered as leading politician, who made a modern city of the upcoming provincial town Nürnberg.

"The Old Jewish Cemetery"

The Old Jewish Cemetery is located in Schlehenstrasse. This is where the Jewish community buried its dead from 1607 to 1906. The graves were created for eternity and the peace of the graves must not be disturbed. A certain amount of desecration took place during the nazi era. Entry to the cemetery can only be gained via the Jewish community.

"Centaur Fountain"

The first art fountain was designed Rudolf Maison in 1890 as a monument to the first German railway in 1835 and the establishment of the central water supply in 1877. It depicts man s harnessing of the forces of nature.
