Fussen just looked like a tiny dot on my Eurail map, but we were determined to go there, as we wanted to see Neuschwanstein castle, even if there was no town there to see other things...but we were rather pleasantly surprised.

Instead of the totally touristy town we were expecting, we found town which was busy without being overcrowded, attractive, with brightly painted buildings and much charm. It was also much more historical than we could have imagined.
I could have spent much more than 1 1/2 days here.

Hotel Hirsch is one of the buildings I found most attractive in the long main street of Fussen.

Very Disappointing

The hotel is well situated and the rooms are beautifully decorated, but that is all that can be said in favour of this hotel. The amentieties were seriously lacking: no room service; no hospitality tray; no residents' lounge; [in other words no way of getting a coffee outside meal times] and there was no laundry service. The hotel was crawling with gogs - both of the staff and visitors, which made life unpleasant, and worst of all the food was DIRE - I would have been ashamed to offer it to anyone. Portions were small, fresh vegetables almost non existent and the puddings out of a packet. As for the soups.... utterly appalling.

With a homely fell

The room is very large and had lovely furnitures.
Amenity goods were not sufficient for me.
But,all the staffs were very kind and friendly.

Unique Quality: I reserved through the Japanese travel company,
It was a low price as extraordinary as 50 dollars in 1night-stay,two persons,double-room with dinner and breakfast.
Although it is this hotel which cannot be referred to as modernistic,
since in this neighborhood ther were few restaurants.
I was glad for this low price with dinner.

Romantic Hotel

The hotel is a big, romantic, old tour-class hotel with 53 rooms on the main street in the center of town. Their standard rooms are fine, and their theme rooms are a fun splurge. The prices depend on room size and demand, cheaper from November through March and during slow times. Only the expensive theme rooms are non-smoking and family rooms. Their prices for standard rooms: Single- 56-82 euros, Double- 87-133 euros. Theme rooms are between 118-162 euros. Even though this is more expensive than other hotels, I would reccomend this one. Very beautiful. If looking for a more affordable price, there are many others that can range from 35-80 euros.

Unique Quality: It's in the middle of town, beautiful rooms, free parking and an elevator. Includes a full bathroom and since it is close to a major tourist attraction, English is spoken.

Opinion of Price: more expensive than average
